Here is my build for JAGERMECH JM6-FB.
Did it as a sniper.

What do you think?

Drop the 11th heatsink and add more ammo (45 probably won't last for a match if your are not dying early and shooting all the time) . The gauss has no heat (well, it has 1).
Put the ammo into the arms (it can't explode and will critpad your gauss).

I'd drop head armor to 15 and legs a bit to increase arms (your only two weapons are sitting in the arms).
You could consider droping down to a 265xl to max the armor.

And put the ammo in your arms. Gauss ammo doesn't explode. Gauss rifles do. So if you put the ammo in the same location as the rifle, it'll slightly decrease the odds of the rifle taking out your whole mech.

Something like that if you wanted to stick with the XL280.

I am not the largest fan of the dual gauss cause of how ammo limited it is and I like that build better on a 4x-phract (even with the low slung arms). It works though for some and I see it fairly often.

I really liked 2x Uac5 with 2 ERLL in arms on the Firebrand I found and I ran that for a long time. You could obviously swap a DHS for more ammo or AMS.. however it works best for you.

Might wanna take 1 or even 2 tons and put in some small lasers or even a medium or 2 laser for backups.

Problem with arms they tend to get ripped off leaving you with no defense. Or even worse decent game and ammo goes OUT. Lasers let ya keep helping. 45 rounds sounds like alot but with 2 guns they go through them real fast. about 1 minute 50 seconds of continuous fire.

Lasers well unless destroyed keep firing. Would take that extra HS out and use it for 1 med or 2 small. My Firebrand I run 4 small at 12 damage with all 4 firing not bad even with short range.

Personally don't like dual gauss or AC40. In my experience it is too limited.

I've been running AC20, 4x MLs and 1 PPC w/ standard 260. Not terribly hot or slow (71kph speed tweaked). PPC gives me something to do until enemies come within range of main weapons. You can trade the PPC for a laser or w/e you enjoy. Dual AC10 with back up MLs is fun too. I found dual PPC w/ 4 MLs and 2 MGs more effective than it sounds.

I recommend running a standard engine when running any brawler build. If you can keep under cover and stay with assaults and out of fire, you can manage an XL.

I tried the AC40 route for a while. It works but a bit limiting and situational. Fun though at times.

Lately I have been experimenting with my Firebrand again. Glad I have been given the possible duration change in ERLL burn time. (PTS while under maintenance they will be testing new patch weapons changes which include ERLL getting much longer beam duration.)

Tried a gauss with 2 ppc for a few matches and it works ok, but thinking of going to ac10, 2 ppc, 2 mediums.

I like that AC10/2PPC/2ML idea. I have two Firebrands. One runs 2AC5/2PPC (and is among my most successful mechs) and the other is dual gauss, but I like your idea a lot.

The sync is pretty spot on and makes for a great combination. The mediums really are entirely for backup I figured but of course they could be dropped (or switched to smalls) for DHS or ammo if someone wanted. Just gives you something to fall back on inside 90m of ppc min range or if you are on a cool down needing that one final shot to take out an enemy CT.

I run a Firebrand, Brawler edition.

2 Lb10x's, 6 ml, 3 Dhs, 5 tons lb10x ammo, running with a xl 280, and max armor,

This build is a very fast, medium to close range brawler. I love to pepper people with the medium lasers, then come up close and rip them apart with the lb10x's. With speed tweak, he runs at 76.7 kph.

Cut the 11th heat sink. Maybe even downgrade the engine to a 265XL. That'll free up a couple tons so you can add a pair of MLs as backup guns. Also, the build as listed is 0.06 tons under weight, you can squeeze in 2 more points of armor (not much, but it's something).

Personally, I've been really happy with the AC/40 load out with 2 ML's as a back up. But matches tend to work out one of two ways; Either I'm able to use cover and get in 3 or 4 kills or I'm smoked in a few short minutes with nothing to show for it. When I did team drops, this load out filled a nice niche. Pugging, it is more hit and miss. Its a decent build on its own but shines brightest in company sized actions.
