Actually the chip has been great with most games. Games that use 8 cores it has performed admirably. This game however, not so much. I have it overclock ed to 4.5GHz and I still get fps drops in the 20's and 30's on the older maps. Any FX owners get smooth frame rates in this game? If so how did you do it?

I'm getting between 40 - 60 (vsync) on my 8320 @ 4.2 ghz with crossfire r9 260x devils. I have everything on highest settings dx11 except post processing and motion blur I think. I know I turn off post processing.

Turning that off for me seems to have no effect. Neither does switching back to DX9

I have an 8320 oc'd to 4.2 with two overclocked r9 280's crossfired to just brute force the game.

FX8350 stock + R9 280X stock gives ~45 FPS average with lows in the 35 FPS range when heavy screenaction occurs and sometimes lower when i use Heat Vision or other peformance bugs occur like strange single time low FPS matches (i guess some very specific Mechs kill the performance bcs when these Mechs be killed the performance goes back to normal).

I play at Very High Dx11 settings, resolution is 1920x1200 60Hz Vsync, Win7 x64

To get higher FPS i could lower Shadow and Particle settings and would gain up to a 66% FPS increase which means pretty much 60 FPS all the time and with Vsync off up to 150+ FPS.

PS: I tested this a while ago and do not know if the settings still have the same performance Impact with the recent version of MWO but i expect a similar behavior.

to help with your fps drops setting particles to a lower setting then you currently are at will help IMMENSELY, i went from very high to high and that alone bumped the big dips from the 20's back into the 30's... also shadows is hard on the cpu and object detail and environment drop one setting down and you should see very big improvements. at least i did anyway, my specs are below.

No change. However, turning off vsync has improved things drastically. I don't get the FPS droops.
