Pretty sure we've had that range for months. 1860 max range is nothing to laugh at either.

That is a "Maximum Range" and there is "Effective Range" which was 880 now it's 660. What is a significant cut-off nerf actually.
It's like a chop-off your cat bollox and still telling him that he is A CAT(male).

The Gauss is fine as-is. It's a high risk high reward long-rage weapon. Take away the charge and it'll wind up a heatless brawler weapon, everyone will boat them, and we'll see nothing but "nerf gauss" and "my gauss keeps blowing up and killing me" threads. If it's hard to use, practice practice practice.

I am not saying "please make this weaponsystem easier to use for me",im pretty good using the gauss+ppc meta as it is,and
i hardly would call using a single gauss per mech boating,it just would make fast gauss mediums and heavies viable again, and make gauss a decent brawling weapon.Like i said in the original post, keep the charge time for multiple gauss rifles and when paired with PPC:s.
FTW changes, sometimes its excessive LRM:s,sometimes it might be fun to have gauss centurions or hunchbacks running around :D

It *is* a viable brawling weapon, just not an easy one. There are better options, but if you've got enough seat-time it's fine. There is absolutely no justifiable reason to change this weapon when all the other ones are broken. Want a gauss without charge in a centurion? Put an ac10 in the arm. Or an ac10 and an ac5 (yen lo wang can fit it I think). The dragon champ mech with 2LL and a gauss is still a pretty decent mech (for a dragon+trial mech) and it's loadout "works" on many mechs.

When has it ever been 880? I'm pretty sure I always remember 660.

Gauss definitely does not need a buff. They are my favorite weapons.
