Hated the challenge! Between the suciders and the massive amounts of people playing way to timid drove me crazy!!

I used this challenge to buy, test and level up some Wolverines. I got all 3 to basic, earned a new favorite Medium mech, got a free mech-bay and a fair chunk of C-Bills as a bonus. Couldn't really have gone much better than that.

I enjoyed the fact that making it win centric fixed a lot of bad teamplay.
I don't like the fact it's always the solo queue because you can't play with your friends which defeats 80% of the reason to play this game since there is nothing else worth playing for in here.

you and me must not have been dropping on the same server, lol. Considering it was win based.... the amount of bad play and teamwork was staggering.

It was nice seeing tiered achievement in this challenge. For a while I was worried that I wouldn't make the 50 wins, but I got it with about 4 hours to spare. And it did encourage team work the whole weekend. Much better than the leaderboard challenges, which tended to spawn an "every man for himself" attitude.

My only pet peeve was that I saw a few people suggest base rushes in assault, which, IMX, only work about 25% of the time.

I felt like both my team mates and my opponents were playing much better during the challenge. I'm not sure I would characterize it as good but for example, every map that has a "get here first and win" feel to it we got there first. I had zero teams stop on the ramps of the pug zapper. As a result I was really enjoying terra therma.

I enjoyed the weekend. I thought the 10 and 20 win challenges were fairly easy with casual play. I played almost all conquest as a light. I found the play to be less timid than usual and at times down right aggressive. Every time on Frozen City the Kappa people would charge right through the saddle and smash into Epsilon. After a while you just warn the team about it and set up a turkey shoot.

But back to the point. The quest for 50 was a grind. At about the 40 win mark I had enough. But I figured I came this far better I should just tough it out. Upon hitting 50 I logged out and went to bed.

There was a bit of suiciding and I reported it when I found it. Not sure if it will do any good but made me feel better. As for boneheaded teammates? Sure, tons of that, but oddly enough sometimes these wack job ideas worked. One match on Crimson a Dire Wolf crossed the sea by himself, killed two lights, and capped theta. I thought for sure he was a dead man. Granted he was sporting 2 X lbx 20's and 2 X lbx 10's.

I'm thinking I might take the 6.5 million and buy the ML range module. All my lights could make use of such a device.

i honestly didn't see any changes in peoples play other than the suicide idiots.

it was a frustrating challenge for me but it had up sides, that being collecting nearly 10 million bills over the weekend just in normal play trying to get that extra 6.5 along with XP for some mechs I needed to finish getting mastered or elited.

it was a total grind though....I feel i was getting maybe 1 win per 10-15 rounds played. it took all weekend to get 50.

I like the idea of challenges but they need to rethink how you go about earning that challenge. Unfortunately it seems wins or kills or even assists brings out the very worst in players.

I think the next challenge and maybe even all future challenges should be on experience earned. Honestly it is the only thing I can think of that you can't abuse, exploit or gimmick in order to achieve. The only way to gain XP is by playing hard and trying your best. Even using UAVs, TAG, Arty and Air Strike, etc to farm XP are useful to the team and require you to actually play the game to your best to utilize effectively to gain max XP with. Hell a challenge like that might even improve gameplay because you would definitely have to play your hardest and to win in order to maximize XP per match.

exact opposite for me. I didnt start winning until I didnt play during the prime hours over the weekend.

I liked the multiple tiered rewards.
I did not like the desync issues, farmers, and groups being excluded.

I played it to experiment, to slog through the custom mode and see how bad the matchmaker could be, which I never play anymore, just stock games. I don't sit down to play games like MWO for hours on end, but on the weekend I had enough time to kill just to see how long it would take an average player like myself, to actually complete a challenge like this. 16+ hours later I completed it, with easily way more losses than wins, probably 50/70ish. Much frustration and cursing was had - the highlight of my frustration was getting stuck on map parts on "HPG Manifold" a couple times and had to remember to avoid certain parts of the map.

The only way I beat it was by abusing the bad balance of the game by taking an ECM Raven with NARC, with many matches of watching enemy Mechs get rained on by LRMs even if they had cover and annoying the hell out of the other team by shutting down their LRMs or SSRMs in LOS. Winning most matches was not fun, they were just total stomps and not close games.

Never ever again though, it reminded me why I never play this game longer than one or two hours on a single day of the week.

Couldn't keep my eyes open when I quit this morning and can't play from here. Had Family in town last week so I only had Monday night to get it done.

I enjoyed it, save for the suicide rushers and the occasional desyncs (not nearly as bad as last weekend though). Solo challenges rip out people from group dropping, which sucks for units, but it is what it is. Teamplay was higher than normal, more A-game mechs being fielded, and more people willing to pay attention and work together.
Spoiler

By Saturday night, completed the 50 on my main account and 20 each on two alt accounts. Would have easily done fifty solo over the weekend anyway, so its all gravy.

I had a pretty decent time. The biggest problem was that I finished mastering my Timberwolves and decided to go back and work on my Jester for a while. Good god, that mech is just ALL CT. I had both really good and really bad matches.

The best one was when I actually had some folks take my suggestion to hold B2 on River City. The other team set up across the bridge and we traded ranged fire while about half of both teams split off and tried to flank through the south. They ran into each other and had a pretty good battle that we eventually won. So, people listened to chat, we split the team and didn't do the single giant death-ball, there was a long range fight on one end of the map and a brawl in the other...It was actually a really good match.

There were also matches where my dual-, overloaded-, range extended-AMS Jester went through four tons of AMS ammo and STILL got LRM'd to death. Or, times where it seemed like my team failed to learn from my horrible death and proceeded to do a conga line right into massed fire coming out of the caldera in Terra Therma.

Overall though, It didn't feel too bad, and I actually had fun. Of course, I stopped at 20 since I didn't care much about the C-Bills so that probably helped!

To be fair, you were telling them to do something that's pretty standard anyway. Though it is nice to see some acknowledgement for a change.

It should have not been solo only since it was win based makes zero sense. Will be glad it is over as I can select assault again. Well if they ever fix the network issues.
