Well first...I don't know why it's called "dead" when a mech is destroyed, as the Mechwarrior (you) is still alive. "Neutralized" "disabled" "destroyed" would be better than killed.

But anyway...I see in the cockpit of almost every IS mech there's an ejection handle between his legs.

How cool would it be if upon your mechs' destruction your Mechwarrior grunts or some such thing as he pulls the handle and rockets into the air. There's wind noise and screen shake as he (you) fly through te air above the battle. You even get to look down at the battle briefly until the current death screen pops-up.

Just a thought.

Thought given on my first day of closed beta.
Still hasn't happened.
But in the mean time you can watch an external ejection mockup occur here. :D

This!

Put a poll on!

(also, before the battle starts should we see our mechs dropdown from a Dropship?) This can be integrated with the Drop page while everybody connects. You see yourself falling and your HUD displays connection status and map objectives in your multiple screens.

It'd be great, except for that time you're in a tunnel when it happens and you smash into the ceiling and commit suicide.

Other than that yeah I think it would be a neat animation to be added sometime down the line. Not immediately though.
