Looking at Smurfy's, I can't see any reason to buy one of these, other than it is new, and the model looks pretty sexy.

My Blackjack still looks like it can walk all over the Vindy..

Apparently, it's a good little bugger => http://mwomercs.com/...ildsdiscussion/

But if you already have the blackjack, it's less appealing.

Better torso twist, all variants have JJ, Zombie head laser, a twin AMS variant, missile slots for SMRs.. I'd say different, not worse. Arm mounts are lower: shield arms... I'd expect it to be better at close range.

The more mechs we add, the more they will overlap. Sometimes there will be only subtle differences, such as the same hardpoints in different locations.

The Vindicator has more torso twist, elbows, and some have missile hardpoints, so there are lots of smaller differences

Only played my SIB so far but also picked up the 1AA and the 1X.

Impressions of the SIB are mostly favorable even with only basic skills unlocked but really looking forward to seeing the improvement when it will be elited.

Admittedly, hardpoints are a little underwhelming but they can work well enough.

Oh look, ANOTHER "X mech is DOA" thread.... Since you specifically mention not seeing any reason to buy one, you are speaking from a standpoint of knowing nothing....

Need some builds for the VND? Want some help? Sure! But to just speak out your arse about it is ignorant.

/thread

I swear, if I got MC every time a mech was announced as DOA by some ***hat, I wouldn't need to buy any at all. Let's see, the list of mechs that are DOA: Raven, Firestarter, Spider, Trebuchet, Kintaro, Griffin, Wolverine, Blackjack (incidentally one you love), Vindicator, Quickdraw, Jagermech, Orion, Battlemaster, Stalker, Banshee.......

I have the St. Ives and the 1AA so far and find them both underwhelming - when compared directly to the BJs.

I don't think the VNDs will ever provide any reason you should purchase them other than pokemech. But... that in itself is a valid reason i guess.

I got 1AA and 1X and havne't had any luck so far. But it's still early. Buying a new mech when you are used to elited stuff is always painful.

About half of them are pretty much DOA, so frankly I don't quite see your point

I don't think you really know what DOA refers to. When a mech is pretty much inferior in just about any situation when compared to other mechs, it's DOA. Not that you can never do well in it. So sucking really doesn't have anything to do with it.

On a class by class basis, Shadowhawk will eat a vindy for breakfast, and ask for seconds.

Blackjack would eat this thing for breakfast.

Any clan medium would eat two of them for breakfast, then drink a 6 pack, and eat two more of em.

Can it still be a useful medium in the right hands, of course it can, but considering what its up against VS any other medium is it really outstanding? I have a hard time believing that it would be given its limited ordinance, and the one good weapon that could make is shine (PPC) is in nerf lala land.

Even by your definition the term "DOA" is a massive pile of hyperbole.

Really? If you can explain in what way the Vindicator is good mech compared to currently released mechs, I'd be very interested.
