Mech Varriant Question

If i own the ctf-3d(c) and i buy the ctf-3d is that considered a varriant or is that the same mech?

They're considered the same for XP purposes.

They are the same mech. One just has an XP bonus. Despite how they are separate things to buy and separate things in the field, they fall under one mech in experience, loadout possibilities, quirks, buffs, nerfs, etc.
