When i run a lrm boat I get canyon and forest most the time.
(in order of maps loaded 5x15lrm summoner)
forest
crimson
forest
canyon
forest
canyon
apline
river city
canyon
caustic
forest
hpg
canyon
If they want match maker to balance in this way we should be told what is going to happen. I would take my pusle lasers off the dire so i dont have to keep playing terra over and over.

Only people who are boating

Next time you load on canyon take note on how many lrms mechs are around

For the fun of it, load up a mech with 4x ppc (if you have something that can) and tell me what map you get

Y U RUIN maah killing streaks!
Ooh Alpine Peaks - behated trip -
I so much wish I could've skipped...
Because I brawl this lilfe for sheet,
Oh Alpine Peaks - behated trip...
But there's that thing - I give you that -
You're better than the Mordor scrap...
Whenever I see burning sheet -
I kinda miss my Alpine trip...
Ooh Tourmanline Ooh Tourmanline,
What lovely place you could've been...
But "they" invented missile boats,
and every time my butt goes toasted...

Of course, this says more about loadouts and building it for every map possible so you don't get screwed.
While this sounds like I'm suggesting to create a frankenmech, I am definitely not suggesting that. You have to build your mech AND build a proper mindset for each map based on your loadout. I remember back in the day when Alpine was introduced and I ran a Splatcat. It took a while before I made the most of it, but while painful, it was more of a learning experience than just blaming the map for not favoring my build.
Still, the map drop system is great for paranoia. I mean, I assume Mordor is around the corner when I want to quit for the night.

Running my 5LL Misery last night, (I noticed it because it was a pretty lengthy map run), I wound up on frozen city 4 times in a row and Alpine 5 times. That's 9 matches on cold maps. I hit Caustic 3-4 times. Maps are governed by RNG and are completely random.

Not completely random. There are certain maps that has higher chance of appearing--generally the newer maps. Prime example is Mordor.

yea for a few weeks after implementation to get them caught up with other maps. It's still governed by RNG just new maps have an increased probability when first released
