I just switch over my dire to all pulse lasers i ended up on terra and caustic 4 times. When i changed it out to 8x erlaser(before nerf) i ended up on terra most the time. When ever this happens i get longer load time maybe a extra minute or two like its trying to place me into a hot map.

When i run a lrm boat I get canyon and forest most the time.
(in order of maps loaded 5x15lrm summoner)
forest
crimson
forest
canyon
forest
canyon
apline
river city
canyon
caustic
forest
hpg
canyon

If they want match maker to balance in this way we should be told what is going to happen. I would take my pusle lasers off the dire so i dont have to keep playing terra over and over.

The matchmaker is totally out to get you specifically. You should watch your back.

Only people who are boating :P

Next time you load on canyon take note on how many lrms mechs are around :P

For the fun of it, load up a mech with 4x ppc (if you have something that can) and tell me what map you get :D

Well, I find that whenever I grab a slow mech, I always start in River City in the position where you get swarmed before you can even turn around. I also know for a fact that whenever I take a heat neutral build, I always get Frozen City. I think you really are onto something here! Maybe if we hit launch before selecting our mech we will have better luck of fooling that vicious MM that certainly wants our heads.

What I found to be worse then Map rotation, is grouping. What i have noticed is I will go 2 to 3 game wins. Most the time the wins coming from a complete RFOLSTOMP. Either losing 1 or 2 mechs or none at all because we have 4 or 5 ecm and loads of LRMS. Then I will get put in groups that get ROLFSTOMED for 3 to 7 games. Most the time because the other team has all the ECM and we have like 1 LRM boat. Map rotation is bad but the way it matches up groups is even worse in pugs at least (Never played a privet match).

I heard a couple of months ago (from Niko, I think) that when the later stages of Community Warfare roll in, units will get missions (and merc corps will get to bid for contracts) to attack or defend specific planets/bases/etc. and he said that meant we would know what map we were dropping into before we choose and customize our 'mechs for that specific drop. That would be awesome!

I'm sure the reason I get alpine peak most often has nothing to do with boating 6 SPL's.

Ooh Alpine Peaks, ooh Alpine Peaks,
Y U RUIN maah killing streaks!
Ooh Alpine Peaks - behated trip -
I so much wish I could've skipped...

Because I brawl this lilfe for sheet,
Oh Alpine Peaks - behated trip...

But there's that thing - I give you that -
You're better than the Mordor scrap...
Whenever I see burning sheet -
I kinda miss my Alpine trip...

Ooh Tourmanline Ooh Tourmanline,
What lovely place you could've been...
But "they" invented missile boats,
and every time my butt goes toasted...

TBH, it's mainly coincidence.

Of course, this says more about loadouts and building it for every map possible so you don't get screwed.

While this sounds like I'm suggesting to create a frankenmech, I am definitely not suggesting that. You have to build your mech AND build a proper mindset for each map based on your loadout. I remember back in the day when Alpine was introduced and I ran a Splatcat. It took a while before I made the most of it, but while painful, it was more of a learning experience than just blaming the map for not favoring my build.

Still, the map drop system is great for paranoia. I mean, I assume Mordor is around the corner when I want to quit for the night.

Running my 5LL Misery last night, (I noticed it because it was a pretty lengthy map run), I wound up on frozen city 4 times in a row and Alpine 5 times. That's 9 matches on cold maps. I hit Caustic 3-4 times. Maps are governed by RNG and are completely random.

Not completely random. There are certain maps that has higher chance of appearing--generally the newer maps. Prime example is Mordor.

yea for a few weeks after implementation to get them caught up with other maps. It's still governed by RNG just new maps have an increased probability when first released

It's been confirmed by the devs sometime ago that the MM does punish hot builds by increasing their rotation on hot maps.
