I had the idea that the unit coffers should allow the unit to buy "unit owned" mech. They work like trial mechs but the unit leaders, or whoever has the permission to do so could change the load out of the mech using unit money and allow anyone in the unit to use it. This would also help out the NEW PLAYERS who are completely gimped with the trial mechs that are build to TT that doesnt translate to MWO. Secondly it would get new players to join up with Units, either main units or training units that some of the larger units have for developing pilots. The new player could grind out his first 25, or the cbills for his first personal mech using a ready made machine that is viable on the battlefield.
The idea is that a new recruit to a House/Merc unit doesnt always bring their own stompy robot to the unit and are provided one by the house/merc command to use. Then once the recruit saves up enough money he can buy his own.

I think the C-Bills should be used to define how well that unit can fight. This means bringing back R&R.
How this works, is that when fielding a mech, that asset has a potential cost equal to the full destruction of it during a battle. Loss of armor, internal structure, equipment, ect, will come directly out of the unit's coffers.
What this will do is let an economy dictate fielding certain mechs. A good example of this is why ever field a Locust? Because it's cheap. That means if you can finish the job in cheaper mechs (or avoid taking tons of damage), your payout will be larger. This allows capture of battlemech/omnimech construction facilities to reduce the cost of a chassis, making it more manageable to field specific type of mechs. Also, this makes mechs that are not available to a certain faction (Clan omnimechs for units, for example) extremely hard to field due to having to find them on the black market.
Now I need to somehow figure out how this can translate into the Inner Sphere War portion of combat. I know PGI has said that House warfare (this includes Clans) will most likely not have any associated cost as the House pays for the mech itself. But then that leaves the dilemma of why field a Locust, unless they plan on bringing back some type of weight limit for each match such that a Locust would be viable to up the tonnage of others in the game. But the problem is that House warfare is going to be more public that Merc warfare, which causes all kinds of issues.

I like that!
Unit leader could buy "unit" mechs. Only unit leader and possibly certain ranks like quartermaster can outfit the mechs and they act like trial mechs for unit members

Brilliant. Go make a Feature Suggestion! I'd vote for it.

Unit mechs kinda neat but I thought the coffers were for planet and base defense cost , dropship costs, maybe can be used to hire mercs units.

unit mechs is a tops idea i would for sure go for this being able to supply your own mechs for other pilots for the unit and it would make the game alot more immersive for the comunity and encourrage team play i'd be in that to help out the nebies in the unit
