Color code the mech names to show I.S. or Clan mechs, especially on the score board for the match results.

This will allow the player to see at a glance how many of each are on his or on the opposing team.

So maybe have it coincide with the color of the HUDs (blue for Clan mechs, Amber for the I.S. mechs)
