Just a quick question: When does Ghost Heat apply to lasers? Does the 0.5 second weapon "reset" come in as soon as the weapons starts to fire, or after their entire burn duration is complete?
I'm wondering as, if you are using the trial Nova, it's rather important to know if one can shoot more lasers as soon as the beams are done, or if one should wait another 0.5 seconds after the beam durations are finished before shooting more lasers?

The 0.5 second reset occurs at 0.5 seconds UNLESS you fire another laser before it.
It does or is supposed to end at the 0.5 second period.
It's always safe to fire as soon as the previous beams are done, too.
Admittedly the longer you wait the better you cool off.

Thanks Koniving! (Pst: This is Tesunie, under a different guise! Don't tell anyone... Oh wait...)

Yeah. I was wondering the same thing. Thanks Lt Karaten for asking this!

Smart [redacted].
Anyway, Novas are pretty okay with the stock loadout but I find 12 ER Smalls with 4 MGs to be far more effective. The downfall is having to get much closer.

Someone has to. Who else is going to (try and) get a chuckle out of you?
I mean. I'm a very serious person. I'm playing stock mechs in PUGs after all. That's some serious business right there.

This thread was very entertaining to read, I got a laugh out of it. Also.. I think it is useful information for those who do not know if the ghost heat offset starts before or after the weapon cool-down.

It is important to know that current ghost-heat system is working on a cumulative counter, which means that game counts each shot that has been fired subsequently within 0.5 seconds from a previous one as addition to overall counter. That means that even if you place a macro on mere dual AC/2 to fire them individually with .360 delay, that will still apply a ghost heat. Each subsequent shot after a 4th one will apply more and more ghost heat.
At the same time, firing three AC/2 with no macro applied will not trigger ghost-heat, since subsequent shots are performed outside of 0.5 seconds margin.

Thanks for the info on this. It was always kind of a grey area for me.
