For me it is very distracting to see the flashing CRITICAL DAMAGE indicator in my cockpit while red lights flash around me. I think it would be a good idea to have a toggle for the indicator after it comes on to warn you. It would be much easier to concentrate on the action afterwards.

yah, i got the same issue and thus receive a letter for inappropriate behaviour periodically, something to do with inactivity - a result of alt tab I suspect. Alt tab gets used in those high intensity games, get critical early in the game and you dont want to spend 5 minutes of strobing lights and headache. Not addressing the strobing since 2012 suggests they agree with the use of alt tab as a patch.
It's been suggested in 2012 to toggle warnings off - like a confirm button.
