I really only record games for training for myself or my unit but since I have uploaded my recs of the final I figured I'd post them here in case anyone wants to see how truly, horribly, terrifyingly bad I am at stompy robits.

Inside OMC round 1 of the HPL finals is now known as the ping-pong round, watch it from my perspective and you'll see why :(

Spoiler

I'd also just like to say that whilst OMC won the three games only game 2 went to plan, game 1 was more reminiscent of the end of a typical 12man than a 4man with the OMC light pack running around the field and game 3 was F8L's mad rush which worked OK for us but as you may have guessed from our lack of fldpp we typically try to get early damage, it's almost crucial to us and a rush like that doesn't afford us much time early.

I spend a lot of time theorycrafting this game, I'm an EvE player I can't help it, and I was almost 100% sure no team in this league could force us to brawl with only 4 mechs on the field. Not only was I proven wrong but I was proven wrong in all bar 1 of our matches :P Turns out I hadn't considered people would willingly rush into our Stalker and it caused quite a few frantic moments on comms as our Stalker pilot was reduced to a damage soak for a minute or so.

All in all I love the fact that this event wasn't predictable unless you count the fact that OMC brought LRDF, that was obviously predictable :P

Thanks to all the units who we got to play and we look forward to playing you guys again, as well as the others next season.

The Image is a little stuttery in some spots but the audio is fine. If you have 2 screens you could play OMC on one and F8L on the other with my commentary in the background for maximum immersion and bandwidth usage.

Game 1 is even harder to watch from the god's eye than it was from my cockpit! My poor little cada :(

But seriously I love watching Jay shout these matches. Keep it up buddy, even with the stuttering your stream is entertaining :)

Nice touch with the post match wrap up.

Catch you when you get back online in February Jay and have a good holiday :)

Edit: The format and ruleset of the 1vs1 tournament (Arena 1's) is now available to HPL site members who hold the rank of Representative for preview and feedback.

If you would like to get access to this and you are one of the designated Team Liaisons for Season 1 of Random Mode IS 4's, please sign up at the site. There will be some delay as I have to manually assign the ranks once you have signed up.

ARMD will be throwing our hat into the ring again for another round.

We can't let OMC have all the fun. Well done OMC you guys definitely seem to set the standard in this part of the world.

The 4 man configuration was new to everyone and I think we had a bit of an advantage with our 12 man deck scaling well into 4 mans (we literally took 1 of each mech from our 12s deck) where lights can be even more effective. It will be very interesting to see if our strats can hold up now that everyone knows exactly what our weaknesses are. Who knows, maybe we'll roll a murderball for season 2, especially since the PP10 is velocity matched now :P

It's a shame we didn't get to play ARMD this time around, our 2 corps have been dropping against each other since the earliest rounds of closed beta (granted we were AUS back then) but with the exception of the Pacific MWO League we haven't gotten to face off in the competitive arena much at all. We should get our 2 units together one night for some games, play straight versus or some mix n' match teams under tournament rules (as fun as the casual nights are :P).

Your raven and cicada combo is quite good... very tough for a single jenner to fend off... earlier matchups we had effectively had a 1v1 light battle... didnt help that we had a single drop deck for the entire comp :) which was basically brawling focused :)

If you have the time a full compilation of team points, damage, kills etc etc

also a pilot compilation of the same would be a nice touch as well...

The 1v1 series sounds like a lot of fun. I leave college for good next week following my final exam on Thursday which probably rules me out. I'd happily play all of my matches (Inner Sphere any class) during this week coming (Sun-Thurs night) if everyone else in the comp was willing but I understand the logistical issues that would cause.

I have never competed in a 1v1 competition (the HPL was my first true tournament experience) but I am excited to see what builds and strategies people come up with.

@Jay Z, no worries mate. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get back online.

Fox and I have been talking about some changes to the tournaments that will allow pretty much a year round on-going series of opportunities for people who want to do competitive style play. Our only restriction is basically manpower at the moment so roll out of the various events will be held up by that.

Looks like you're already set as a representative. Check the following forum page and you should see the Arena Solo board with everything on it.

final exam done!!!

so this just cross my mind, is there any interest to start a Oceanic/Asia TS3?? there is no doubt we have enough people and resources to help run it.

having loads of people from our time zone playing mwo/other games in the same channel could be quiet beneficial in developing our community.

anyway its just a thought.

I finished my final exam today as well! Congrats!

I don;t think we need another TS3 although there is no harm in starting one. We could easily add some channels in mercstar. Also, I can't wait for some 1v1s when I get back.

For those not registered on the HPL site, there's a brief update posted here.

As far as TS3 servers are concerned, I believe the main problem is that we just have too many individually run ones. If PGI would set up one of their own or officially endorse just one TS3, it would be much simpler. However, given that they're looking into VOIP, this seems unlikely.

Well, as long as we have the official forums and the HPL forums, we should be able to coordinate matches on our various TS3 servers.
