this year, I believe it was Memorial Day or 4th of July week that is was delayed. I am trying to remember another. Point being made, is hardly the first time, or a big deal.
Maybe the esteemed Mr. Bryan Ekman could clear it up for us? (sir, the floor is yours)

What scares me is the thought of releasing a patch on a Tuesday which included code changes made on Friday, or Monday.
A prior comment used the term 'normal software company'. Technically, any normal software company would be releasing on their Tuesday release schedule things that were done over two weeks past, and having spent the past two weeks being batted about by testers. The fact that Monday was a holiday should only be impacting what could be included in the September 16 patch. But then, did anyone on the player side have any idea of last weeks server move more than a half day in advance? I think its pretty clear how things roll up in Canada. You couldnt pay me enough to deal with that kind of stress, every two weeks.
I also had a laugh over the concept of 'Friday'. In my book, Friday includes everything up to Monday AM

cool...so you volunteering to pay PGI staff overtime to work over a holiday weekend? (Doubletime instead of time and a half, in some places, anyhow)

because in first world countries people use holidays as an excuse to ruin work productivity for roughly 7 days, mostly due to being spoiled and living in a consumerism slave empire built on the flesh and bones of production line slaves in less fortunate countries. Every thanksgiving for example I give thanks that I can use an arbitrary day of the month as an excuse to get drunk, pack on 20 pounds, and stare at a box watching grown men grope each other over a ball, instead of making ipods for rich white kids who play justice warrior at school, and then picking through garbage for metals to suppliment my meager pay so I can afford to keep my children alive long enough until they are old enough to enjoy the same fate. No that's not sarcasm, I am very thankful to be lucky enough to be born in a country where I can actually be lazy and a general ******* to everybody with little recourse. This is not sarcasm, its just easy to read it that way.

that sounds reasonable, although the only patch I'm interested in right now is one that will restore connection stability because this issue alone is highly toxic to the community in regards to new player retainment. One thing people don't like is the unknown, ESPECIALLY when it comes to their money and ESPECIALLY during a recession/depression. even more so when we're talking about the one resource you cant refund, time.

I mean, for a normal software company, you don't just do "Friday stuff" on Friday. You do the stuff that needs to get done. You set up a schedule based on a deadline.
I'm not sure you mean by "their normal Friday workload".
Because of the holiday, my trash wont be picked up till the next day after the normal pick up day... PGI is not the only ones to push things back one day when there is a Monday holiday. A LOT of companies do this practice. Don't know why you are railing on PGI on this one. (Only thing I would get on them about is that there should be an announcement saying as much, but that's a rather minor point seen as they have been doing this at least since I joined MWO.)

Amazing how he has to pick through garbage to make enough money to survive, but can spend money for internet and able to play games? I can say from personal experience, when I have hard times and money gets tight, the first thing to go is the internet. Wouldn't be the first time I've live without it, wouldn't be the last...

I too am thankful. Every time one of the huge waterbugs that are very common in this region sneak their way out of one of the major drain lines and into the house I promptly smash it into a gooey pile. I am thankful I was not born an insect living in and feeding off of the scum lining of subterranean drainage pipes... There is much to be thankful for. I am glad to see not everyone in the interweb takes things for granted.
