Didn't have a problem myself, I've run MW4Mercs, and even basic MW4 and BK expansion.

I'm not sure I have DX11...somewhat dated tower.

I never had that issue. I'll assume older is easier, or more compatible.

What exactly is your problem? did it tell you that you dont have a .dll file or something? some old games can only use old directX files. New versions of DirectX often dont have the exact specific files that the game searches for because they are wildly out of date. You can fix that by downloading the DirectX redistrubitable folder and manually extracting the needed file into the windows directory.

You can find it on my Desktop, there's a shortcut there. I haven't actually clicked on it in some time, though.

I saved all of the versions of the Mek Paks and the discs, but all the links are dead now.

When I install the free version now the virus scanner says it's EXE has a Trojan called Artemis23994 or something like that and quarantines the Mercs.EXE file. Anybody else get that? Malwarebytes doesn't see anything wrong with it.

I have mechwarrior 4 installed. But cannot play it because of some weird bug that has me turning left all the time after running for a few minutes...

Mercs uses DirectX 9.

Yeah... it's an old False Positive that kept cropping up for a while.

The free release that Mektek offered expired, when Mektek chose to discontinue the distribution. There is no free legal download for the game, as the only ones with a licence to distribute the game is microsoft. If you do not get it from one of their websites, it is an illegal copy.
