I haven't played for about a yearish. Last time I was on they had introduced the radar and steath system. LRM and Gauss Mechs were the mainstay. All there was to play was arcade and conquest.
I was hoping they'd add more game modes and stuff but from what it looks like on the home page at least, it's the same as it was then. Has the game not really changed any in the last year besides the clan mechs?

Not Played In A Bit. Should I Bother?

EDIT: Removed vitriol.
Please use the search function or spend 1 minute of your life scrolling down to old threads and you'll probably find 5-10 threads like this one.

Meh, just a bit more of the same. If you didn't like it anymore then. You will still not like it anymore now.

Well, the Clans are here. You may need to resign yourself to being stomped into the dirt a few times before you learn how to face their mechs. They're awesomely brutal.
Hot tips:
1. No mech can stand in front of a DW and live, except another DW, or maybe, maybe an IS Banshee.
2. MadCats are also lethal. They don't have the firepower of the DW, but they actually move like they don't have their ankles taped together.
3. StormCrows at full speed will tear you to shreds if they're set up right.
4. The rest of the Clan mechs, you just treat them like you would a good IS mech when you meet them.
6. GENERALLY, Clan weapons are DOT. IS mechs win at peek and shoot competitions. Unless you're facing a dual gauss dual ERPPC DW, in which case you hide until it gets distracted by something shiny.
5. Keep your eyes peeled for red smoke. If any lands near you, run.

Should we perhaps have a "Current State of the Game" thread with a summary of what ha been added in the preceding months? So mods can just lock these kinds of threads and direct them to said thread.

I actually think there is one. Or was one. I couldn't find it though, not necessarily because my search-fu was weak, however, but because I tried once, failed, and am completely apathetic about trying again.
You win this round, laziness.

Nah, because someone who doesn't have fun playing isn't going to be happy until they give him something to hang his e-peen on.
I get being burned out. Lately I play mostly when there is a contest or a prize, and occasionally to just hang out and meet the new folks and visit with old ones.
