For one day a week, let us bring an AMS or two (or three) in our drops. Aside from being a fun social experiment, it will also have the benefit of saving someone from horribly dying to shake-and-bake LRM5s (actual results may vary).

For one day a week, let us help comfort those who wet their pants at the voice of Bitching Betty, and offer them umbrella of life. Though our efforts might go unappreciated and unrewarded, it is the thought that matters.
Let us show the other players that LRMs are really not all that hyped up to be, and there is actually a way to protect yourself as well as others, aside from complaining. Educating the people is important, lest they fall under the spell of constant fear. Otherwise, the fear will drive them to spout irrational things such as this.

This is the current setup that I used yesterday and also running for the AMS Awareness Thursday. It is a Dual AMS Stalker 5S with mixed missile and energy loadout.

Although the mech is a bit fragile due to XL engine, it works well as long as you keep yourself at the center of your herd. I had to cut down the AMS ammo from 5 tons to 3 tons because there weren't many LRM boats yesterday and I spent only about 1000 ammo on average. Perhaps it is the Elo, or perhaps LRMs are not as wide spread as some people think.

No matter. Let's Thursday's slogan be:

BRING AN AMS, SAVE A PUG.

So no Lurmers can ruin your day.

Betcha you'll run out of AMS ammo before I run out of LRM ammo. :P

I used to have every mech I own equipped with at least one AMS.

Something very bad and wrong has happened since those days.

I used to be an AMS carrier but with the advent of half-ton ammo slots (yay I can use up that half ton on something useful!) it's just not worth it.

If we had the ability to turn off AMS while in cover, it would be almost worth using (but still not IMO).

The only viable reason to carry AMS is to destroy streaks in-flight, and you rarely see streaks being used at the moment.

No one really cares about lrms this is why very few use ams. Myself i use radar depr and just get into cover. On the other hand most lrm boats stand around and do very little making a boring game.

As for the first photo i guess you didnt understand what i was saying.
Match maker puts lrm boats on canyon and forest . If you watch any of these maps you can tell :)
Here is a example in order of when i boated 5x15lrms

forest
canyon
forest
canyon
apline
river city
canyon
caustic
forest
hpg
canyon

Side note i love when people put on ams i go around popping few until i see the ams fly and i know where you are :)

The idea is to make you dead before the AMS ammo is used up.

Do you generally have trouble locating the enemy team on our postage stamp-sized maps? So much so that you must "pop a few" to find them?

The mind boggles...

Radar dep has done far more to save me from LRMS than my AMS ever did.

I'll still often take some or all of a volley. But I won't hear "Incoming missiles, incoming missiles, incoming missiles, incoming missiles" before the lock is finally lost. Unless your cover is a mountain, or very long (The long, fat buildings seem to work), or the sweet spot under a bridge, most cover doesn't help. Running doesn't matter. That's what makes them seem OP.

Any Team based defense system, carried in a Team based game, is good for the Team. Actually, the more the merrier. If you don't do Team, then please don't complain about what the other team has brought to the fight. :)

I guess I dont like walking around blind when I chave the option olocating them with lrms. Ever wonder if people are in the tunnel pop a lrm towards it. Hiding on the lower level on hpg? Shoot a lrm see the ams drop a strike. But I guess you know all these tricks you sound pro.

My take-away from this is that Col Oneill is a member of SG1 which is so nerdy it makes me happy

My summoner carries 11,000 rounds of AMS. :D

Okay, with Dual AMS + Range/Overload modules; yeah those 11,000 rounds gets burned pretty quick. But, it will certainly put a dent in your potential damage score!
