Remember free press is free press...even if it's bad press. ALL of this is generating hype that draws peoples attention.....I mean how many of us have ever tried a bad game just to see how bad it really is.....

Niko and development team,

I am afraid this has been a fairly poor decision to promote this new product here, it is at best naive and at worst a true slap in the face to the people such as myself that have pumped revenue into a product that is not yet finished.

I can understand your desire to generate interest from as many avenues as possible and from a business sense, I can understand that it is possible to have more than one project being developed simultaneously. It is even understandable how it is possible to share assets without impacting negatively on either projects development time.

I can't understand how you would not expect a rage filled reaction from the community at large, since more than a few of your development decisions for this game have produced page upon page of negative feedback, alienated many of your original playerbase and cause quite a few people I knew from Closed Beta to simply pack up and uninstall. I fully understand that once the money is in your coffers it is yours to do with as you please but I do not understand why you would think it is a good advertisement to direct potential founders/players to look at an unfinished product and expect them to get involved with a new one.

Some will be able to list each and every poor development decision and many will be able to provide quotes from the development team to back them up, however I can fully understand that "hoping" to be able to do something does not always allow for the reality of what can "actually" be done. So I have never been one to completely lose hope that this product will eventually reach a fully fleshed out and immersive 'Mech combat simulator, with a vibrant and fulfilling Community Warfare.

I have signed up to the new website and will wait to see what it brings but I can guarantee I will not spend another penny on this or any other product that your development team are involved with until CW is delivered and proven to a viable addition to the game and not simply a shallow deathmatch ladder league.

It is possible you may prove us wrong and this is actually a finished product and you are doing a J.J Abrams on us. If so kudos, if not, hmmmmm.......

Ugh... no. Horrible idea. Why do people keep promoting this??

Maybe because it is not a horrible idea?

Besides, if this was a AeroTech game, with AeroSpace fighters and WarShips, it would have been even more interesting than Star Citizen for me..

But i think that if they have ever been BT fans, they are starting to hate it for all the headaches it is giving them -_-

Best case scenario: It's a space based BattleTech game that focuses on WarShips, JumpShips and AeroSpace fighters which will link into PGI's upcoming CW for MWO.

wouldn't it be cool if this was the case (which it isn't). PGI extending a franchise they are dedicated to into other game genres? Instead, they appear to be preparing to abandon said franchise.

Holy crap! You cannot get one title to be working and now announce the second one? Do you really think anyone who ever exerienced your "quality" (LOL) of gamemaking will spend a single cent on this? How stupid do you think the people are?

The only thing I will be doing is tell everyone on that new forum how you behaved throughout the last two years of MWO "developement".

I'm extra confused how it's a good idea to announce a new game before you even finish the core features of your highest profile title to date.

I won't ever buy another PGI game, ever. You ripped me off with MWT, and MWO was a miserable failure. I hope those of us who are extremely dissatisfied with your company and those two games, Mechwarrior Tactics and Mechwarrior Online, can get the word out loud and fast enough to prevent you from scamming millions of dollars from other gaming consumers.

So, for those interested, you can in fact view the JScript in vain hopes of finding a password.

PGI had nothing to do with MWT. And apparently MWO is successful enough that it's helping them grow the company.

I am going to wait and see what this brings before I pull out my pitch fork. But if anyone here can show me one game developer that never looks into other projects to increase there revenue stream. At the end of the day PGI is a corporation to think that from now till the end of time every cent PGI gets would go back into MWO I want what you are smoking. If you noticed this is a PGI venture IGP is not listed on the website for it so I for one don't see this new game anytime soon as there looking for backers.

  • 1. No one is asking you to.
  • 2. MWO, regardless of what you want to say, was a huge success. It was an MechWarrior MMO, it wasn't developed by a huge company like Microsoft but still has a lot of content relative to the size of the funds they receive, and it is free to play.

Guys. I get everyone is a bit emotional about what this might be, and I agree I wasn't expecting it.

But do you not think it kinda proves that PGI ain't a sinking ship? If they can afford to make a second game... >.>

It wouldn't be too bad if some company that slightly cared about Mechwarrior took the reins.

I'm not worried about PGI being a sinking ship. I'm worried about MW:O being a sinking ship.

Yeah right. This is their money maker. Even if their development license expires they'll run the servers for a while and keep the community online. Heck, they may allow community created content after that (for a fee obviously)

Look, I'm going to be hated here and say that, if this new game really has completely separate resources to MWO, then I don't have a problem with it. Don't expect me to play it, because I do have concerns with PGI sticking to a time table, but I don't have a problem with starting something new. A development group can easily stagnate if they work on something too long. Having something new might rejig them a little, ideas might be spread around, maybe they might learn something in the new game that could be transferred back.

By the sounds of it, and they usage of the word "pilot," I have a feeling they may be trying to keep the ball rolling with MW/BT, or at least with robots of some sort.

I wonder where all the money for preproduction and staffing up came from ...

But hey. Good luck getting an even bigger project on it's feet while struggling to make MWO what it was supposed to be ...
