Reminds me of all those tourneys for MC that had people in the tournaments stuck in matches with people looking for top competitors and singling them out.

No different from then and now. Fair? Not really.

They should just make such things opt-in and put people against others that opt-in instead of a free for all.

1) If you're good enough in the game to have a bit of fame (or infamy), it comes with the territory. Same thing happened in real life with renowned fighters, gunslingers, athletes, soldiers, etc. If you're good enough, people are gonna be gunning for you...cost of doing business.

Thankfully, I'm not that good and do not have to deal with that.

2) You really think PGI's matchmaker could handle two separate queues like that?

It can handle solo and group queues, so yeah.

Since you seem new to the group queue, I will let you in on a secret. Yeah that 10 or 12 man has more coordination, which is suuuuper awesome and helpful. But you dont have the weight restrictions they do. They might fight 9 Direwhales with 3 Timberwolves thrown in for fun and rainbows. Im not saying they dont still hold the advantage, but its not like you cant hit the team chat button or take Command and put something simple together. The group queue is not the solo queue, people actually will work together.

Ok, let me dispel this rumor right now.

NO I'm not new to the group que, I play in it quite often, and I understand 100% how group que works.

Everyone seems to ignore the crux of this complaint. Which is that teams who decide to play by the challenge rules, are put at a disadvantage against those who decide the challenge doesn't matter.

Because the Challenge FORCES you to only get points if you're in a group of 4, then groups of 5-10 instantly have an advantage over a team that is comprised of 3 groups of 4.

Yes, you CAN still coordinate, it CAN be overcome. It's not actively broken so far as how MWO normally works.

IT IS broken in regards to offering the challenge, and putting those who decide to play by the challenge ruleset at a horrible disadvantage.

so then explain to me how that has anything to do with the challenge?

Not a single thing has changed about the group queue since yesterday
or the day before
or last week
or the week before
or last month

From the great minds that whined about all the sync drops of groups in the solo queue during tournaments, and all the 'bad' group players messing up their little sandbox. Now they have to go take the bus to Stomptown to compete and learn for themselves how rough it really is.

yea because every player who plays in a group is like that...
smh

Not every player who plays in a group... ;)

From all the comments, it sounds like the Lance Challenge can only take place in the group queue because of the 4-man requirement. If this is true, PGI should have more challenges that can only take place in the group queue.

I knew this thread would come, it was just a matter of time. This is why PGI didn't make it a win requirement. The only thing you are losing out on if you wind up losing the match is 4 points. If you get 8 assists you are still gaining 16 points...

I'm confused.

In that case, you should finish the challenge as soon as possible because once the big guilds who do participate are done with it, they'll be all over the latecomers to the challenge like a cheap suit.

Saxie, they're learning how to be better with the tournys. let them make their mistakes, take the free mech bays and premium time to help assuage the trouble.

Right...

I'm not arguing that. what I'm saying is. How is this fair to those attempting the challenge?

What of those who don't CARE about the challenge, and who decide that "Hey, these smaller teams of 3 will be easy to farm."

Are you seeing the fundamental oversight here?

This Challenge is a good idea, it's a team oriented one. It's a step in the right direction. However if you're going to offer a challenge like this, everyone needs to be on equal footing in regards to team sizes they will be facing.

There is a distinct advantage a 10 man has vs 3x4 mans..

Well, at least now this "challenge" is worthy of the word. <maniacal   >

The solo players get plenty of challenges...why are you so against group players getting their own?

Now we find out how much of the pain of past challenges has been caused by Rambotardia and the inability to play well with others, and how much was because Derptown got flooded with 'bad' group players that regularly stomp the tar out of their opponents in 4 minute 12-0 roflstomps.

We don't want you groups in solo que. Now we are in group que for the challenge, so don't you dare drop in a group bigger than ours..

Group que is group que.. You will be fighting against groups of any size. We have to suffer through solo challenges (and some HATE it), one group challenge isn't going to kill you (except in game)

This reminds me of the discussion threads about PUG vs groups when there was a single queue. I believe the appropriate response is:

Oh quit whining and learn how to play better you crybaby

At least that's what the PUGs were told.

Makes you wonder if lone wolves should be allowed to group up and be allowed into Stomptown now doesn't it? Of course, that makes group players no better than the guys that I know of deliberately legging teammates because they belonged to a team in the solo queue. :P

Except the challenge doesn't include 10mans... it's limited to 4 person groups.

In which case all you can complain about is Sync dropping...

Talk about a way to completely delegitimize all complaints of sync dropping. Complaining about it in the group queue.
