I'm just not the type of person to just invite myself into a group, so if no one asks me to join....
again, not impressed with this process at all.

In-game VOIP is fine so long as it's possible for players to opt-out/mute it.
I like socializing just fine; I prefer to do it by text though. Did it ever occur to you that some players have auditory processing disorders or speech impediments and may not want to communicate via voice/hearing the same way they're forced to everyday IRL?
Did it ever occur to you that for some people it's more relaxing and fun to not have to talk or listen to people talking while you're trying to enjoy yourself playing a game? No, you just try to push them into using Teamspeak because it's funner for you.
Your last part of the your post suggests you have a mighty chip on your shoulder about team speak and it's use. Your initital post was very aggressive as well.
If you have some kind of issue as stated in your post, why not just say it and lay that out as to why you are so against it? Instead of veiled aggression. I don't want to push anybody into using anything, but when you make an argument/point that is illogical (pros and cons part)-I will question it.
Your post I quoted was a disgusting display of aggressive dismissal. How come in the past DECADE I have not witnessed anything even close to what you describe? Believe me, I'm also FAR, FAR and away more picky than you'll ever be with whom I choose to speak to.
So how about dumping that massive, weighty chip and discussing things more civilly?

if anyone thinks you don't need to do that to be effective as a team they are wrong.
You don't need to speak, necessarily, but you need to be able to hear.
Headsets stop people in your house from waking up.
This game has a very mature player base compared to most, i suspect a lot of the worries people have are based on public voip on BF3/CoD type games with a much younger player base.
Most important point: If you a playing in the group queue and not using voice chat, you are playing at a SEVERE disadvantage, and it is your choice to be doing so. don't complain when you get stomped.
