Yeah, I know this is a silly question
Now, I have a PC at home, but I'm not at home but abroad with my trusty lil laptop. We all know that laptops aren't the best for gaming unless otherwise.

But here's the nice thing. Forcing Dx8 worked wonders on Dota2 for my laptop. Normally I had these frequent fps drop, obviously due to the weak GPU. However, with dx8, I can now put render graphics accordingly to an acceptable level.

I was wondering if this were possible for mwo. I noticed that one cfg had a line about directx9 - with a big warning about not touching the code line. Nonetheless, I'm certain I could be effective in the game if I had dx8 for the laptop gaming.

So, can dx8 be forced ?

DX8?

I'm sorry, but I do not believe that the CryEngine is capable with running on the limited functionality of this DX version.

Greetings all,

Really Dx8? I'm not trying to make fun of you, but really. That version ended in 2002 just as win95 was also ended. Are you really running win95? Or the earliest versions of Xp?

If you run 'dxdiag' (without the quotes) what version number does it say is installed.
- As a note the Dx9c is functionally better than earlier versions, has a greater availability to display and operate programs than earlier versions.

Well, sourceengine left it in and I know it is way different than cryengine. I know well enough that dx8 is old. It's not like I am asking for MSDOS. Yes, it is ancient, but it works wonders in Dota2 and laptops. I know well enough about the specfifications of stuff, other than cryengine and other inhouse stuff of MWO.
Lots of games can be tweaked. And I'm the type who doesn't need dx40 to play :D. But who cares.

Okay thanks.
