After playing a decent amount the last couple days, it's dawned on me how much more enjoyable it was during the event. Sure the Cbills/Exp/MC were great obviously, and the fact that the grab bags meant personal achievement could see a reward even if your team got rolled was awesome, but more than anything it gave me something to play for.

I suppose it hadn't really been so clear before just how meaningless the matches were, sure intellectually I knew they were meaningless but I guess it just sunk in how much I enjoyed having something - anything - to latch onto. Any other time a bad game is a bad game, potentially even time wasted with the new rewards system, but as silly and superficial as it was the treat bags added something to it, something to fight for and I now really feel like that's something this game has been sorely missing.

That would be a great mechanic to base a salvage system around. Of course, cockpit items and garage slots wouldn't be a regular part, but having a grab bag of c-bills and items based on your match score would be a nice incentive to keep playing and play well.

While I definitely don't want MWO to go the prize box route random loot would sure be cool. If you could get quirky weapon rare drops and stuff from salvage (or maybe salvage bonus can separate and be spent on them) that would be fun.

A "Salvage" grab-bag is actually a really good idea.

They could build it into the UI...as a button in the match score history window they should also build.

This would be a great idea actually. Make it cbills, gxp or varying chances at equipment/consumables. Then on special occasions (like Halloween) they could add the MC, cockpit items and mechslots to it.

The Halloween event was the only thing that got me into the game again since months.

Everything that could offer a break from the extremely repetitive gameplay is a good thing.

PGI listen pls.

It was pretty awesome. Too bad this weekend's event is rather lackluster.

Very, even more so if you happen to be a solo player. Group only events are fine, but there's a large portion of the playerbase that is likely unable to participate in them - myself included.

The cynical conspiracy minded would say the Halloween Event was PGI testing out backend systems to allow for clantech salvage...

Every "contest/tournament" is a disguised playtest. :)

Hopefully they do something like this for Christmas. It also makes sense for that holiday because of things like stocking stuffers, presents, and lumps of coal...

I agree that a regular salvage distribution would be cool.

Yes, I support the OP, getting useful stuff for free is much better than getting useless stuff. I may not pay more, but I play more.

I think a salvage system might be good. A high score would give high rewards, a lot more c-bills, XP, expensive weapons, and valuable ammo. A lower score would mean lower rewards.
