At least someone in here understands.

Thanks for the sourcing/link and the ability to talk about it other than "Cuz I said so" and "You're feelings are wrong".

Glad we got that out of the way.

IGP held the publishing rights for MWO and MT.
PGI bought back the publishing rights for MWO.

What does that leave IGP - assuming they still exist - with?

As it is though, MT is for all intents and purposes dead. The devs were let go in December without IGP telling anyone, they sold founder packs up until two weeks ago, and since then the website has been in "extended maintenance" and the game unavailable.

I'm sorry, but everything points to MT being dead and gone, and more than likely IGP as well.

It's a given at this point that Mechwarrior Tactics is dead, but what I'm curious about (and seems to escape others) is the entire MechWarrior IP and the future of other MechWarrior games now that PGI has their own IP in the works.

It is irrelevant because PGI and IGP are not the same company, and both have the right to make a MechWarrior game yet you are here asking one of them(the only one actually making a MechWarrior game mind you) to not sit on the IP. If you are concerned with MWT get in contact with IGP.

My understanding of what Russ said (perhaps it was a post here instead of the town hall meeting) is that PGI has the rights to MechWarrior from Microsoft. IGP had the rights for only MechWarrior Tactics, after permission from PGI. IGP still retains the rights to MT, but not anything else.

Glad someone here knows what I'm talking about.

Since PGI has one MechWarrior game, I doubt they'll make another. This one seems to be enough work for them as it is. They did mention the possiblity of adding a single player somehow into it. They could always licence the property out if any other dev studio showed interest, but that seems unlikely.

Which is pretty much exactly what I have been saying in this thread yet the OP takes your word for it and asks me for a source go figure.

Reread what I said in those posts. I didn't say your fears were irrelevant I said the problems with MWT are irrelevant to your fears. I get it you are a bit over excited and misunderstood me, but what I said is really no different than what the captain said in his two posts.

Ryvucz, quit being an ass.

You have your answer. Thank the guy who gave it to you, then either discuss the topic reasonably or bow out. Needling people who tried to give you your answer in a way you didn't like is juvenile and unnecessary.

Don't be a ***.

No need to post your angry self hating message here.

Apparently Microsoft still owns the licence to Mechwarrior and PGI is just on rental terms for it (or something like that, my legalese isn't up to speed)...so someone else could convince Microsoft to loan them a license for Mechwarrior as well. So yes, other games could be made by other companies, assuming Microsoft is okay with dual licensing.

However...realistically. Who wants to make Mechwarrior games? The franchise sat dead for 10 years and no one was interested except PGI, so who's to say someone (other then Harmony Gold lolz) else would actually want to try? I doubt it. Especially with the legal issues that would be involved.

Finally...as MWO approaches a more mature game model (CW is finally implemented, and more maps and game modes are churned out), they (PGI) may find themselves with less to do. Perhaps they'd finally consider making that singleplayer Mech title we all wanted.

Seems like a far stretch to me.

Yeah well...that's about all there is to say about it. Probably not going to happen, but we can all cross our fingers and pray.
