i've tested them, and though their dmg output is pretty lackluster, i would use them...
IF they didn't have such freakin nasty heat multipliers! i mean, why would you purposefully gimp a weapon so hard? does that heat penalty even reflect in the "heat transfer" effect of the gun? for all the pain in the ass they are to use they better is all i'd have to say...
ghost heat is a decent system to stop people from alpha'ing 8 ppc's and 12 medium lasers into an atlas's juicey roast-like core, leave it at that if you ask me, and take the second ghost heat off of flamers, so people will use them for more then just a single blinding flamer on a spider...
please...
for those who didn't know, flamers generate more heat the hotter your mech is and the longer you've held them. sort of like a second ghost heat... making them effectively useless after 40% heat on your mech or 8-10 seconds held down.
