Why, when I square off with a Mech to his back with AC 15 does my dual AC-20 not kill them outright any longer? Imean a Mech just standing still. Using zoom module at 80 meters. Just asking not complaining.

What 'Mech was it? Did you fire the AC20s at the same time or in succession?

Why are you using quad zoom at 80 meters? Do you need your eyes checked or are you playing on a 3 inch wide screen?

40 damage doesn't one shot very many things. If 50 tonners have 10 rear armour, without crits they wouldn't be one shot through the RCT.

Well ok. Way back when. You sneak up on stuff you could one shot them. It's ok if that gone but it would be nice to know what changed.

You still can, you just need to pump a LOT of firepower into them. It also depends upon how much back armor your opponent has. Heavy and larger mechs CAN tank twin AC20 to the backside (60 ton mechs have 40 points of internal structure in the CT, any amount of rear armor will stop twin AC20 from being a killshot).

Your best bet for a one-shot kill on large Inner Sphere mechs is to go for the side-torso rear and hope they have an XL engine. On clan mechs, you just need a ridiculous heap of firepower. Like, oh, say, quad UAC5, 6xERML, and a MPL...

What mech did you try to shoot?

That is the information needed. The only surefire AC40 one shot to every mech in the game is the cockpit, and that's from the front.

Just because you are able to remove the armor protecting a body part on a 'mech doesn't mean you'll be able to one-shot them if the health of their internals hasn't been affected. There have been a few times when I'll clear off the armor of an opponent and leave their internals unscathed until I hit them with another alpha strike or two. And even then it's not a 100% guarantee that they'll go down unless it's a headshot. But yeah.. it's about the amount of health their parts are padded with.
