I think we're starting to make actual progress.

Sounds like we're getting an effective list of candidates to vote on. I really, really think we need to give it until like Tuesday at least to gather nominations.

Then we can make a poll that includes the names of people willing to do the job.

Livewyr should be in as well. He seems to have a very good idea of how to handle this already.

I'm going to make a suggestion that we actually have 2 council groups. One with the 5-10 members and a larger group of like 10-20 that is less active but helps with suggestions and more different perspectives to round out the voice a little more. So the core group can put together the suggestions and plans and the larger group can give feedback on them. When a solid plan is reached (actually a few solid plans) then it should be presented to the playerbase for more feedback (at this point, most feedback should have been said by the second group and a summary of that should also be included). Presenting to the playerbase is to find anything that might have been missed and any edge cases that anyone can think of. Then it can go back to the core group. minor changes perhaps, then a vote or something. I realize this is a lengthy way to do it, but this isn't going to happen overnight. For what it's worth, I'd be willing to be on the larger group.

Edit to add here in this thread (included in others I replied). This council idea can only be for this one issue. It should not be permanent.

This should be fairly simple.

Roland -someone with knowledge ability and no Bias.

Homlessbills Bill- level headed with great ideas.

Adivuo - understands lights and what their role should be within information warfare.

Kiiyor - his post on clan balance was epic.

People like Bishop shouldn't be considered; because although he is intelligent with good and bad ideas; his agenda is driven by bias not a good thing.

Since ECM affects LRMs the most, a veteran Lurmer input is necessary.

Anyway, I nominate:

Livewyr

Konivig

Homeless Bill

Roland

StJobe

This entire council Idea is stupid.

You are all jack-asses and not a single one of you should be in a position to "represent" the community as a whole.

I don't know if I should hee or haw at this one.

On the other hand, the player base IS a collection of jack-asses. And wise-asses. And plain old fundamental-type asses.

This means we could TOTALLY do the A-team 1980's style team-up and get it done.

I don't want to be Mr. T, though. I have a thing about being repeatedly shot up with drugs to get anywhere.

This looks like one of the more advanced threads on the subject. Wish you continued luck and just let me know If you need a poll for any of your decisions.

Someone had a spreadsheet of all the nominations in this thread somewhere actually which might be helpful but its been a while since he updated so it might need a refresh

Would also nominate Lyakon, who has many easy to understand points on what exactly is wrong with the current implementation of ECM.

Someone I forgot.

EvilCow

This is a guy that was at the core of the mech 4 mektek mods. Creating the tools to import mechs and alter the coding of the game.
His technical knowledge will help with ideas and what would be feasible coding wise.

I think it's too early for a poll tbh. Let's let this new excitement ride a couple days, continue discussion, and then try to form a group. We all need to be on the same page though with this.

Can we get a poll on, say, Tuesday? There's people who likely haven't even seen the forums yet and while we're making progress the whole point is to be as inclusive as possible.

We're going to need one for the refined ECM decisions, probably a couple.

Is there an option to get a heavily moderated thread or two? Just to keep the clutter to a minimum so we can get into the nitty-gritty of the ECM mechanics we can best agree on.

So we are going to let forum warriors to decide what's better for the game and not the ones who actually play it?

You're here and asking. Are you a forum warrior too?

Edit note: Image replaced to show my total lack of actual recent play EVEN BETTER.
Perhaps I play a bit between my endless forum posts. Clearly, I must neglect my stable of rusting, junky giant robots as the l33t forumwarrior I.R.

By "playing" I meant being good at it and understanding why you're good (using/not using specific chassis, loadout, mechanic abuse, knowing TT rules, aiming and tracking ability, etc.).
