I have a home security system (motion detectors and magnetic alarms on doors/windows) which has given me little to no issue over the past 18 months. Last night it decided to act-up and at 21:59 (I have the exact time in the logs) my alarm failed to connect to the base station so it automatically went nuts and the audible alarm sounded.

Now, I had just closed and locked all my doors and windows in my usual, ****-retentive fashion so I immediately knew that the ONLY way that alarm was going off is if someone broke into my home (I was unaware of the malfunction until later).

I have not had my adrenaline pump that hard in a while. My first reaction was secure a firearm (more military training than anything) and didn't even look or think about it; just smoothly charged it and moved behind my door sill. After about 10 minutes I collected myself and realized that there were no other sounds or movement in the house so I deactivated the alarm and checked with the base station (they didn't even contact ME!).

Needless to say, being so hyped-up it impossible to sleep. Even after I clearly knew what was going on I must have had a gallon of adrenaline in my blood, haha.

Congrats, you killed your neighbors cat ! :)

Nice system though...Here in France it's hard to get, and I'm not even talking about firearms...
