I assume you don't just need the names, you'd like to know the reason they are famous. Here are the highlights of my Battletech knowledge:

Aidan Pryde is my favorite character of all time, in any story. He's still a nobody at the beginning of the Clan invasion though; he doesn't become a Clan hero until the Battle of Tukayyid, where he dies after single-handedly destroying more mechs in a single battle than anyone else in the history of Clan Jade Falcon. In fact pretty much every bit of recognition he ever got was posthumous.

Phelan Kell is a much more prominent figure in the early days. When the Wolf's Dragoons were sent as advance scouts of the Clan invasion, he was taken as a bondsman and became one of the first men of the inner sphere to learn about the Clans. He rose through the ranks until he became the leader of Clan Wolf, then he tried to make the entire clan switch sides and join the Inner Sphere. The clan split in two, and some of it followed him while most of it remained.

Kai Allard Liao was a relatively small player, but he was the main character of the first Battletech book ever. I've not read it, but I've heard that the writing is terrible and the technology described doesn't match the rest of the universe.

Hanse Davion was the father of five children whose infighting covers the majorities of the books. The two most notable children are Victor and Katherine (later Katrina Steiner)

Natasha Kerensky, Jaime Wolf, Phelan Kell/Wolf, Victor Steiner-Davion. Those are some of my favorites that most people would list.

Some of my favorites not quite as many people would list: Duncan Fisher (whom I know someone else brought up earlier), Archer Christifori, and Yulri Wolf (of Dark Age/Age of Destruction era origin).

Loran Jaffray. Death Commando. Family never betrayed the Lio Chancellor when house Davion offered to give the Highlanders back their home-world if they would break their contract. Went back to the Highlanders under the Chancellor's orders to "remove the Highlanders from the equation" however he needed too. Chose to stay with the Highlanders instead of destroy them.

Let's not forget the honorable Minobu Tetsuhara. My favorite Combine citizen.

Hassan Ali Khaled, the quiet runaway killer who served in the Grey Death Legion.

Anyone who can punch thru cockpits to save ammo and keep the noise down might make it seem like the Author's on the reality slip. But with this character it never seemed too much. You get the idea that if he wasn't so interested in keeping a low profile he'd have been in command inside a month...

Oh also, I remember Duncan Fisher's commentary from MW4:Mercs but can't find a biography on him anywhere, I hope someone eventually integrates him into a book or a game somewhere so we can get a better idea of who he is. I've got some reading to do

Yeah, Duncan Fisher was created by the game designer of the Solaris portion of the MW4: Mercs game. He had never existed in the canon before then. He's always been one of those fictional characters that I've played that I'd love to know more background on.
