I think my next mech project is to master the Ravel 3L for use as a TAG/NARC scout, with an ERLL for opportunistic sniping and/or defense and the fastest engine that will fit after that.

I'm looking for builds to get me through three chassis. I'm probably not buying the Huginn since I would not use it for grinding cbills

Thanks!

Assuming you'll be selling two of the variants, make sure you try out the AC/20 build on the 4X while you have the chance. I forgot to do it and now I'm regretting it.

If you have an XL250 laying around you can put an LRM20 on the 2X for luls. Take off 6 armour and you have room for three tons of ammo plus a TAG or medium laser. Better yet if you have a slightly smaller engine, too. Or go for LRM15 with more lasers. I recommend running multiple TAGs for trollfactor.

my own raven 3l uses 2 srm4, 2 med lasers and a single er large laser. XL 255 engine.a single lrm20 is pointless if you die too fast.
same for the ac20. you die to each other light instant and they will definetly go after you.
now you can swap one srm4 for a narc and put a srm6 +artemis onto it. 2 med pulse laser + narc would fit then too. you dont necessarily need long range weaps since you can use it next to your heavies/assaults. close range weaponry work very well then.
if you want to be able to fire at range i would 2 large laser + narc + tag. ER large need too much heat.

sacrificing most of your mechs ability to install one big weapon is often just a big mistake and only good for trolling.

I've been running the 3L with ECM, 210XL, Beagle for targeting range, 2 ERLL's and double heatsinking the rest. Played as a sniper it's a rather small target, extremely difficult to get a lock on as the enemy has to close with you, and just fast enough to retire when you see trouble coming. I try to find an out of the way place to deploy for maximum flanking and irritation. Doesn't work so well when cornered. If you're not going with a close range berserker this build is nice. I also discovered it's considered a serious competition build style for the 3L at one point.

3L XL-280, Dual SRM 4's, Dual ML's, ECM Tons of fun..

my 2x and 4x, I run an XL-250 or 260 depending on the build.. So much fun! I certainly would not sell them, especially not with the quirks coming... the 2X is one of my favorite mechs, But that 4X is the only raven with JJ's so that makes it unique

The new rewarding system makes Raven 3L with stock loadout a massive money maker. I had a drop earlier today with basically stock loadout with XL265 engine and rounded up 220k on a team with a single LRMboat.

I average 400-500 damage in the "standard" 2 ERLL + ECM Raven 3L build. Along with the TDK it's my favourite mech ^__^

I finished mastering the 3L, using the 2X and 4X for basics. The 3L ended up pretty close to what I had in mind, ECM TAG NARC 1xERLL 1xML.

For the 2X I used a simple build with TAG, 1xLPL, and 1xLRM10. It is pretty devastating if you can keep the target at 200-400m. The 3L can also run it with ECM by swapping the LPL for a LL and dropping a little armor.

The 4X is the one everybody struggles with and it is kind of oddball for sure. What I noticed right away is that the stock build is an asymetrical version of the Anasi hero Spider, which a lot of people also have trouble with. There are a bunch of builds floating around but in the end I just optimized the stock setup with 2xML 2xMG 1xASRM6 and an XL engine and more jump jets.

Thanks for the suggestions

When looking for build and build ideas, I always check out MechSpecs. You may not use one of the posted builds, but they can give you a starting point.

3L go 280XL, 3ML, SRM4, Narc, ECM

go be the greatest support mech you can. Forget the ERLL sniper crap.
