I have invested into this event both times I've seen it... once long ago (I figured they listened to our concerns before but...) and many more hours then I intended to play this weekend for that chance to get the "Kill a Dev" item. Both times, I didn't even see a PGI member. PGI could at least give us times they will be on! I know allot of pilots where looking for them round the clock as I was and never seen even 1! I heard 2 players out of hundreds even seen a dev and I played ALLOT! So, I made myself so sick of MWO this weekend I will have to take the rest of the week off as this just sunk it for me. Have a few hours left to try, but just no longer care! Good Job PGI! Your burning this game out for me :(. This event made me cancel plans this weekend, and to not even see a dev... Well, I know, My bad right? Well, Trust me when I say, I learn my lesson, wont happen again... [REDACTED]

PGI: You should at least show enough respect for your player base to let them know there are so few of you that we might not even see a dev! I'm wondering how many other players didn't even SEE a dev, let alone get to target one!

If you feel this event makes you upset, let them know, here is your thread. Or BBQ me, What ever at this point! lol

Meh, its one weekend out of your life. Its not an awesome event, its not a horrible event, it just is. Frankly the reward could have been considerably better given that im sure less than 500 people accomplished it.

Its more really of a "HEY LOOK WE PLAY THE GAME!!!" move than a real honest to god event/challenge. Which is great, not knocking it. Im sure everyone was on "go log in for an hour and play some matches" duty this weekend, which is really their time off to do anything but work related things.

Hopefully they had a good time and noticed some of the things we players notice and had some good conversations in game.

I see devs drop in game often enough, even killed a couple. Of course as it happens on the weekend we can get an award for killing one there has not been one in sight for me.

C'est la vie I suppose... not really a big deal though.

Please tell me that both times the dev lived...

I would like to see a dev vs division competition. Pick your divisions best player - pit them against a dev 1v1, you beat the dev you go to the next round until you get to challenge the dev of all devs... :D

The prize? A limited edition gold mech, fully equipped with warhorn that screams "I am here, come get me" constantly while you are powered up.

Ok, the first bit was serious though...

Nah PGI would never cook up a scheme to string along people to play with the promise of a reward.

They'd never do that.

This event would've been more convenient if the devs all stuck themselves into everybody's friendslists (as if they were a bunch of Myspace Toms). Then again, I have no idea what would happen to the servers with that much sync dropping.

I've seen devs in-game plenty of times, and especially I used to run into the IGP QA guys on patch days (god dammit Daemur and that lucky headshot)

I was tempted to test this if I found one. They said kill a dev after all, not kill an enemy dev

Okay I have stated it a few times and I will again. This event really was a "filler" sort for us since we had been having so many and we have such a big one planned for next week.

But if these Kill a Dev ones are just frustrating we can stop doing them.

For the record a Dev has been killed about 200 times so far /shrug

Nah. Keep those coming. We need to see the Devs around to be assured that they see the meta. The worst thing is for us to have a perception that the Devs are in ivory towers. These events help to dissipate that thinking.

But I was just thinking, you guys should really form a team to take part in unit tournaments and CW. You'll draw flak and you can't win (or talk of behind-the-server tinkering would go out) but at least the PGI flag would be flying there...

They did do events like every week the last few weeks. And they gave away mech slots, cbills, and MC. So it's not like they were worthless. Really appreciate the mechs slots. ;p

Perhaps expand the "Kill a Dev" thing to be something longer term instead of filler for a weekend event. I have no idea what the size of the player base is, but even if it's fairly "small" it's probably still large enough to make even seeing a Dev unlikely. It's a neat idea, I'd almost wonder if it should just be a constant thing and add in tiered rewards with larger numbers of dev kills. 1 kill gets you the cockpit item (whatever it actually is), 5 kills gets you a recolored variant of the item or something etc. Make the MC reward one for getting 10 kills or however many would seem reasonable.

Nothing wrong with filler events, though maybe in the future make the event a little more inclusive somehow (counting kill assists?) so that more than 1 person per match can get a dev kill credit.

A fun variant to this might be neat for halloween or something. Do a plague type event. All the devs start with the plague wit thier faction icon changed to represent the plague. Then whenever a dev kills a player that player gets the plague and it then spreads from there. Everyone who gets plagues would get some sort of special cockpit item. Then everyone who avoids the plague (but played at least 10 matches during the event) would get a survival cockpit item.

I'd add that every dev for the Halloween event should be running Zombie Cents.
