Hey:
I was just reading it up on Battletech wiki when mech: Ares
Its 135 tons, but I was wondering... should this mech be put into the game? Probably not. Because I know you guys are going to stick to the 100 tons max as the other mechwarrior titles weight limit. http://www.sarna.net...res_(BattleMech) The link's here in case you wanted to look into it. Let me know what you think of it, because I'm just curious :P
EDIT:Topic closed for misunderstandings of the timeline and more. Feel free to forget this ever happened or talk more. The choice is yours, mechwarriors.

Derek,

PGI is (loosely) following the Battletech timeline in a 1:1 fashion (such that one day in real life = one day in the Battletech calendar) with today's "in-game date" being September 15, 3049.

You can see on the Sarna page that you linked that the Ares doesn't release until the year 3136, so it's still quite a while away. While PGI has mentioned that they plan on making "leaps" to different eras in the Battletech timeline at some point, I don't think this will happen for a while yet.

So, short answer, Ares probably won't be put in the game for at least a year or two, if ever.

Even if they would allow it, it's far away in the timeline.

I think the biggest problem with that Mech making it into this game is the fact that it is 86 years outside the games timeline and it has three legs. But it would be cool!

"Quite a while away" huh? Heh. By that time, my grandchildren might be playing MWO...

The fun fact I have is I have the rules for that when it was merely a house rule from a Guy on a CBT Forum. Same guy gave us BattleArmor construction rules and Tripod Mechs... So as Meatloaf sings, "2 outta 3 ain't bad"

Wiz kids produced Ares mechs for their Mechwarrior clic base game. The first time an opposing player put one of those on the board to setup for a match I threw it against the wall. I feel the same way about Ares ever being in MWO.

The main problems are:
It's too far in the future. (some 87 years)
Additionally, it didn't see 'known' or 'regular' action till post 3140, so that's a good 90-95 years away.
It's got more than 2 legs. (PGI stated anything more than a Biped is too hard to make work for the reward, which is why we haven't seen quads / tris in other mech games)

Which is a shame, because I'd like to see super-heavy, quad and even experimental tech in a game.
Maybe one day.

I sincerely hope you were banned from whatever store you played at.
And/or that you didn't find anyone to play with again.
Furthermore, that you needed to pay for the damages.

Ultimately, you come across as a pathetic, petulant child with no social skills at all and no concept of how the real world works.

They're going to nerf clan mechs into IS mechs(or worse) because they can't reprogram matchmaker. I don't see them adding in a larger mech any time soon.

Thats where the concept of house rules comes from...the house. Dont like it, play in someone elses garage...one who doesnt have a minifridge and a keg.

You know what: I'm sorry. I guess my mind was pretty much braindead from looking for the devs this weekend :( that I decided to post this forum without even looking at the date this mech came out (3100s Scout, Come On!) Anyways, sorry to make this topic. Guess the little details can make a big difference. But anyways. Topic is done. I'll be doing a redit at the top to ward away others from such a topic.

The Omega is cool and horribly dangerous. Triple gauss, dual UAC10 and 27 tons of standard armor? OUCH.

Although, 2/3 speed kind of sucks... 'tis a Siege Mech, pretty much.

Now, regarding the OP, we won't see Tripods before we see Quads. It's far more likely we'll get AI-controlled tank bots and possibly elemental/infantry squads before we see Tripods, for that matter.

There's just no reason to implement tripod mechs when there's like just what, ONE tripod mech? Even superheavy mechs would have more of a leg to stand on in being implemented. At least those things need less of an overhaul of the game to get in. (mainly just implementing their special mechlab crit system)
