Oh man, you guys are so easy.

Have I really been gone so long that an obvious troll is no longer obvious?

:D

@cdlord, while the thread was a little trollbaity, and I did report it as such... but as to the rest.

This has been a test of the Emergency Trolling System
Had this been an actual troll, the posts that followed would have been populated with hyperbole, ad hominem and hurt feelings.
This concludes the test of the Emergency Trolling System.

You gotta teach them... point them to the first few pages of the "why youre probably wrong about..." thread and show them the magnum opus of trolling

I'm always amused when people call the sales and packs and what have you not "cash grabs". At least here in the old world its still the customer who decides if, what and why he buys something or not. Might be different in the rest of the world.

The term is important to identify in this case when it *seems* like the packs are playing exclusively on a captive audience's nostalgia, when perhaps it was not *this* company that created that nostalgia in the first place. Yes, we have the right to decide what we want to buy, but when "Clans" are released for sale while no significant information whatsoever comes out about what Clans are or why they exist or how they're different (except their direct gameplay considerations/balancing/nerfs), that's playing on our nostalgia and is rather dark, IMHO. The game needs so much more (lore from the storyverse we love) before said nostalgia is earned. They are heading on the right path. #WaitAndSee #NewBeginnings

Those were not Knights.A knight/nt/ is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarchor other political leader for service to the Monarch or country, especially in a military capacity.
[That is from Wikipedia.

Knights also studied Chivalry but that is a debate for another time.

Not sure if I would take Wikipedia to be a definitive and totally inclusive source. What a knight was changed throughout history. You are talking about from the fall of the Roman Empire to the end of the feudal system. You are describing a more generalized Victorian ideal than what a real knight was.

I bet if you ask the people you are saying arent Knights they would disagree with you and use your own definition against ya. You should always be careful about how you label yourself and how people perceive you. For instance, the picture of the white knight in "crusader" gear with Futhark runes and the more pagan cross didnt occur in history. When I see that picture, I think of {Godwin's Law} war propaganda posters. When you throw in White Knight on top of it, I just cringe.

Just be aware of what you are putting out there.

Interesting sidebar to that, John Cleese declined to accept knighthood.

Trust me, I know my History very well.

The word White knight used as it is here fits that description. If you want to get into history we can, as for that what you are saying is something in itself.

Geoffrey Chaucer's , heavily criticized the knight and the romantic Ideas that were often associated with the knights of the time.

excuse the font, i have trouble spelling his name and pasted it, but I got the text all messed up. Same applies to Luther's 95 thesis about the church and the ideals behind it. What was thought about and how it was portrayed to how it really was. I actually read the full thesis, it's an interesting piece.

I think the Ideal knight, or what we can almost call white knights are the knights Templar. Knights totally dedicated to the cause. I think if the word white knight can be attached to anything it can be those guys. Similar is the knights Hospitaller. those guys, are a model for what a knight should be. Or from what I know.
