It seems ECM might be too much for the community to tackle due to the vast directions an ECM mechanic can go.

But perhaps we can do a better job as a community in terms of working on a solution that tackles pin-point damage and it's relation to Alphas and ghost heat.

I'd like to consider getting a universal 30 heat capacity solution to better address Alphas.

Then from there, tweaks to weapon base heat, heat scale penalties (ghost heat) and tweaks to dissipation (including external DHS dissipation) can be made.

One game-changing back-to-the-drawing-board NGE-level overhaul at a time.

this. they need to start by putting in the battletech heatscale and penalties. that would eliminate the need for ghost heat.

ECM tweaking along the community it's a chance a way to test if the community can agree as a whole and find out a mechanic than can be feasible and accepted by most of the players.

it's the 1st step, test or try to maybe rework further mechanics in the future so i suggest focus on it and prove we can come with a well rounded solution, then move forward instead just argue if mechanic A or mechanic B are more gamebreaking.

How about we make a small, fast change to ECM, like reduce its AOE range to 50m and try that and see how much of an effect it has. Small, simple, fast change whose results could be quickly seen.

Yes, mechs may group together closer but an arty strike will break them up rather quick.
