Speculation about which 4 they will be? And what will be the gifted mech? He already said no Shadow Hawk b/c MASC so its a differnt medium

I think you mean Shadow Cat. We already have Shadow Hawks. :P

Seeing that they don't want to tackle MASC, that probably leaves us with:

Light: Mist Lynx
Medium: Ice Hamster or Viper (can't think of a funny nickname for it yet)
Heavy: Mad Doge (the Lelbringer probably would be avoided due to its A-Pods)
Assault: Man O' Peace

Most of which are very underwhelming, excluding the Mad Doge (which might have a niche use of missile trolling if PGI gives us the Alt-A variant).

clan mehcs turned out to be more a problem than worth the effort adding flavor to the game, hence all the nerfs. last thing I want is something else "shiny" that will get nerfed a few months in.

I think people would gladly overlook a nonMASC shadowcat than to not have it at all. Same with flea (but the flea part is more my opinion)

my only wish is that they don't butcher the shadow cat's size.

Shadow Cat's MASC would still leave it running under the currently possible max speed in the game.

However, PGI probably doesn't want to drop MASC in on just the Shadow Cat. They likely want it available across the board. *shrugs*

I don't see why they don't devise the MASC mechanic so that there are diminishing returns on MASC based on speed of the mech. I.E mechs close to 150 won't get much of an increase.

I mean a 180kmph mech won't be much fun for the game, regardless of whether its in the setting of rubberbanding or perfect netcode.

Mostly because, in TT, there is already a formula for determining MASC's speed increase, and it is directly dependent on how fast a mech is. Whereas a mech with a walking speed of 31.8 would get up to a speed of 63.6 with MASC, a mech with a walking speed of 53 would increase up to 106.

EDIT: However, a manner of balance might be increasing the potential for leg damage at higher speeds. That would be a good balancing factor IMHO.

Dollars to donuts it's the Mad Dog, as they attempt to put in the 3050 Omnis as possible.

I'm gonna go with:

Light - Mist Lynx
Medium - Viper
Heavy - Hellbringer
Assault - Gargoyle
Bonus - Mad Dog

Most of these are the only one that are part of the first 16 in the TRO and not ruled out by MASC. Ice Ferret may be in place of the Viper but they seem pretty much the same to me.

I'm a bit torn on the bonus mech. Because it will be released so soon I want to say that it will be using assets in the game already. The Mad Dog can share the Timber Wolf's legs but the rest is new. Meanwhile the Hellbringer could use the Summoner's legs and arms. But for some reason I feel the Mad Dog fits the bill as that special mech better. But that could just be my attachment to the mech.

Game adjustments will always happen. It's not a new thing in the online gaming industry.

Well I suspect it will be the Viper because it jumps unlike the Ice Ferret (the only real thing separating the two), but it will be stuck with 8 locked hover jets. Still, if they add the C variant, it allows you to run 5 ML and 4 MG at 128.6kph with a bunch of hover jets, the Clans will have their version of the Ember, however it will most likely be goofy looking (Alex can only do so much).

As for the surprise, Im really hoping for a non-3050 omni, but I kind of doubt that will be the case. Several are available within the timeline, however limited in production or deployment they may be. Ebon Jagaur (Cauldron Born), Kingfisher, Stooping Hawk, Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu), Huntsman (Nobori-nin), Crossbow, Battle Cobra, Pouncer, and of course the SCat (even though not eligible).

Probably has something to do with everybody warning people to "talk with their wallets" and avoid buying stuff. Turns out well, doesn't it?

Nothing wrong with them needing money to build the game.

But i would rather see this money go towards something that can make more money. Otherwise the system is going to be nonsustainable, they are just going to start needing to make more cash grabs and at a greater frequency to keep the game running.

For example a system that allows for custom atlas heads, or shoulder pieces on mechs etc etc. Decal systems. Voiceover packs for betty.

Anyone who's played starcraft knows how important it is to build SCVs. Gonna get wrekd if all they do is build marines.
