I wouldn't have as much of a problem with headshots if they were more of a consistent risk with any other weapon system, but instead we get RNG instant death shots from a consumable item and nothing else comes close to damaging the cockpit as often as artillery does.
If headshots were more of a consistent risk from other weapons then it wouldn't be as bad to get finished off by an artillery strike instead of getting caught by red smoke placed 30m behind you and all you get is LOL INSTANTLY DEAD.

Buts it's artillery, it ought to be considered a more dangerous weapon system on the occasions it actually hits. We keeping acting like the artillery is an AC round that only does its damage where it hits. Honestly, artillery should have an area of lethality, crushing cockpits and other mech body parts with high explosive over-pressures...even if the round isnt actually striking the specific parts taking damage.
Come on guys, these aren't just big bullets(even if the were, they'd be devastating with velocities they'd be traveling at)...these are basically bombs. Each round is likely the equivalent of throwing a basket of live grenades at a person...perhaps a person with body armor, but still, there is a high risk of lethal damage there. Honestly, you'd have to be a dumb ass to stand amongst that by choice.
