A new package called the "IS Loyalist Package" would be a fair way for those who missed out a chance to get early access to the King Crab. However, the "IS Loyalist Package" mechs should have different paint jobs from the founder's and phoenix mechs; faction specific would be awesome and make the package s more desirable to even founders. Making the new package a bit different would not diminish the significance of being a founder, or phoenix. Finally, to make being a faction loyalist significant, you need to work on keeping mechs faction specific.

The way I see it, you could just sell pre-orders for the King Crab itself for $30 (plus some goodies) instead of having to make a another multi-mech IS package.

Then offer the King Crab as a reward to those that bought either a top tier Founder's or Phoenix pack.

If you're going to go that route you might as well just do like someone suggested and make the Hero King Crab. The only differences from the reward would be cammo, loadouts and the addition of the XP % bonus.

The more I think about it the more it sounds like a good idea.

1) It solves the I don't have enough money to buy top tier packages problem

2) It solves the I want a special King Crab, but I don't want to buy into a pack problem

I think it still caters to the "I want what the other guy has, but don't want to do what he did" mentality, but people out there definitely love their King Crab......heck half of em love it and don't even know what it really is :P

Of course all the while still working the IS Pack angle for post CW release with an early buy in.

Here is my take on this subject being heavily discussed. In case your unaware the summary is that we have plenty of IS loyalists who either missed the chance or chose not to buy a Legendary founders or Phoenix overlord package. Now to qualify for the King Crab their only remaining option is to buy either a Masakari or Man O War package. But of course they are IS loyalists so this option is understandably not much of an option at all.

Here are a few hard stops as I see it:

Although there were many ways we could have gone about the Customer appreciation program and the criteria we set for each of the various rewards. The fact is we launched it under the requirements that we did and many people have already made significant buying decisions based on that information so I don't think it would be fair to adjust that criteria at this point.

Next on to the Foundes and Phoenix programs, I have read the threads and although there is some support in both cases there is also I believe enough players that are against the prospect that it would be unfair of Piranha to bring those programs back.

Trust me bringing back the Founders or Phoenix program would be by far the easiest option for Piranha to provide, however I don't feel we have the complete support we would need to do so. Which means that IF we were to provide a new IS package it would need to be a NEW program.

If we look at the price points of the four qualifying packages they go from 120, 80, 240 and 120. Therefore the lowest price point was the Phoenix Overlord package and with that in mind I think any new program would at least need to match the 80$ package level. Also Piranha has never charged for one of these programs at these dollar amounts unless the value of the packages were high and the biggest part of that value was in the fact the chassis were all new.

So I think if we were to offer a package for IS players to get in order to qualify for the King Crab I think it would need to be a new 80$ package with new IS chassis.

I want to hear your thoughts now on this, because it takes significant resources to develop one of these packages and we would need to have some idea on what the support level would be, how many would be interested?

I'm happy to hear the founders pack wont make a return, i strongly belive this pack should remin as a unique offer, a new I.S pack would be great for those who dont want clan chassis, and if it ever happened i hope it would contain Wolf Dragoons mechs

As for players who don't wish to puchase clan chassis, has the team considered opening up the reward to players who have purchased a number of hero chassis? i bleive this could be a fair option for those who havent pruchased previous packs or don't wish to own current chassis.

Alternativly there is a msall number of current chassis that dont have hero variants, could it be possible to bring hero plans for these mechs forward and sell them as a "clan buster pack" :)

thanks for reading russ.

I'm in with some of the others comments - offer it a'la carte.

Founders and Pheonix were sold as limited time only sales. Shouldn't go back on that now.

PS - Don't rush into an IS presale. You guys have been doing great lately, I don't want to see a rush job. :) If you don't have time, save it for later.

Ehhhhhhhhh I feel that is the weakest of possible solutions. Regulars actually like mech bundles, and some of us are still feeling the sting from overpriced a la carte clan mechs we were forced into to avoid obscene $200+ packages we would have otherwise gladly bought in the 120ish range if those packages weren't designed to screw you out of the iconic mechs unless you paid through the teeth.

I thought this was supposed to be an appreciation program, wherein PGI is saying thanks for all of the support that was give by their founders and their valued customers who put money to the game when others were saying, "why don't I have CW, maps, clans, collisions, or inset pet peeve here."

Is this the people who complained about prices and content saying, "Hey, if yor going to add a bunch of extra stuff like the king crab I'll pay for a Phoenix pack," or, " hey, I know I said I'd never buy anything from PGI but I want the king crab so bring back Phoenix so I can qualify?"

Is this going to turn into an effort to backfill orders in order to qualify for an award, or is it going to remain an effort to say thanks to those who supported you when times looked rough?

Don't get me wrong, I don't care if others get the king crab, but let's not pretend that they deserve appreciation. They simply want the content and giving it to them by bringing back founders or Phoenix diminishes the meaning of what you were trying to do and makes it look like an effort to sell mechs.

Well I'm already in with the Wave 2 pack. I lvoe the clan mechs. even as an IS pilot I know and love every Clan design almost by heart.

When it comes to IS designs. I'm alot more picky and you probably would already know which ones I want. Assuming you are not going to delve into the unseen water of mech production My list of mechs that I am familiar enough to buy shrinks considerably. In fact I can currently think of only 2 mechs I really want. an Axman and a Bushwacker. There is a post about a somerset pack that looks really nice to me. I know the axe is a tricky subject right now but I would honestly be happy to get a placeholder axe if we could get these mechs now.

Of course if we were to venture into aforementioned unseen waters...80 dollars seems kinda low.

Boiled down to the facts.

PGI is rewarding the friends through thick and thin. Didn't throw down when things looked bad? Tough. That's called life.

Give us the Warhammer, Marauder, and Rifleman and you'll sell them like hotcakes. Yes, I realize they'd need a redesign to get around licensing issues, but this has already been partly handled in past. I think it could be handled properly to avoid any litigation.

Sorry, at work and can only read some (not all) pages so pardon if this was already said.

Considering that atm time won't allow to create new mechs, make it a bundle type pack.

Players can choose 1 chassis from each weight class of already released mechs. Give the Hero and 2 other variants. Add 2-3 colors, maybe some premium time and you got yourself a package. Simple time to implement, no new design, IS option, etc.

My 2 cbills.

While I would purchase a new IS package almost as soon as it was announced, I am still a little confused as to why people would pay $80 to get a free King Crab, when on the day of its release they could just buy it for how ever much MC it will cost.

Only thing they would be missing would be the CBill bonus and whatever custom paint job it might have. Wouldn't it just be more cost effective for them to just get it for MC the same day that everybody who gets it for free.

I just don't want to see PGI attempting to rush something like a mech pack when they have been doing pretty good this year.

Rifleman?

But yeah, liking the idea of Mauler, not sure what medium/light should be included.

If the kinks with getting MASC working in-engine are anywhere near to being fixed I'm sure Flea would get a great reception.

Packages also come with a bunch of mech bays, and not everyone decides to keep every variant provided in a package leaving those empty bays for something else they would rather want.

The way I see it you have 2 options:

1: Design a new pack with the explicit promise that you won’t be able to get it until after x date, it is a pre-order bundle afterall.

2: Use existing mechs that were not included in Founders or Phoenix, by my count you have 20 mechs which are IS that would qualify for this (Examples being the Jager, Stalker, Commando, etc). SO a player could buy an 80$ Pack, and get 4 mechs which are bonused and have a unique skin. If you really wanted to go for the gusto you could do light geometry touches to visually distinguish these.

You have so many unpackaged IS Mechs you could actually create several faction specific packages, with faction skins and bonuses. Who wouldn’t wat a Marik package with bonused Marik mech’s like the Trebuchet and Stalker, likewise for Liao with Vindicator and Raven etc

I think you could make it worthwhile if it included bonused versions of their favorite chassis, with unique skins (and possibly unique geometry if that could be slipped in). You could sweaten the pot with faction banners/items/colors until you feel like you are offering a fair deal for a certain price point.

So basically imagine a Marik Pack that came with a couple Marik Mechs, with Unique Marik Paintjobs on them, and offering Marik Items and maybe even the Marik colors. That would sell.

I would love to see another IS package at a minimum $80 price point that would be awesome. If it doesn't happen until mid or late 2015. Then so be it however I would like the opportunity to get a King Crab with the C-bill bonus out of that purchase. Whatever you guys decide I hope you keep communicating like you have. It really is awesome. Thanks for everything.

I think this is being over thought.
Just release a Hero King Crab for MC two weeks before you sell the normal King Crab for MC and people can buy it, then.

I mean, seriously, people just want the kigcrab, somehow. Don't jump around on your reward system or make a bunch of new work. Just throw out this small bone.

I suggest, give the reward King Crab on December 2nd. Sell the Hero, as well, on December 2nd. Everyone else, buy the Normal King Crab on December 16th for MC.

That way, you reward the Top Tier people, and you give some premium content to everyone else.

You're going to make a Hero King Crab eventually, right? People are going to buy it, eventually, right? People want it now, right? They want to be IS loyal, right? You need money, right?

Bump the reward and a hero two weeks early, everyone will be happy

Sounds like a pre sale, not a bad idea for some of the players to get the K Crab with cred bonus. When ever I need creds I use my hero with cred bonus so I can see some players wanting it especially if its their favourite.

Seems like it would be smart to put a long wait time and sale period for this though.

I am guessing that the Urbie will come out with the official Solaris expansion? :)

So what mechs in this pack?

I am looking forward to a Wolverine hero myself at this point.
