saying that it never was the norm, when at one time it WAS the norm is a gross misrepresentation.

it wasn't

We knew from the get-go that new mechs were going to be a prime avenue for monetization, PGI was very up-front about that from the start. If you really thought "free" mechs every month standard rather than a temporary thing associated with closed beta you were not paying attention.

As has been said before, we have "free" mechs. We just don't get them right off the bat. Servers cost mony and Devs gotta eat. Mechs that get released for cash get released for CBills down the line so it has been, so shall it be

This is about the only valid point in all of ... whatever that was. Everything else was just pulling it...hard. Really, because you happen to have more money than me, you're better than me? Ok, then. As for the point, well, they're not putting it on for general sale where everyone can buy it, it's an upgrade, which is slightly different. They said that the packages were on sale for a limited time, but I'm pretty sure there was nothing in there about people that purchased during that limited time frame of being able to upgrade those packages later.

Breach of contract? Riiiiiight. I'm pretty sure there was no contract signed anywhere, at least I didn't sign my name to anything, pretty sure there was no counter-signatory on IGP/PGI's side either. Yeah, I know I'm splitting hairs, but when we're talking metaphorical contracts, you might as well try to wiggle through on the fine print. I'm pretty sure that if someone went through with a fine enough comb they'd find a way to make it work...regardless of the size of your...wallets.

You are very obviously being willfully ignorant because it fits your agenda. The other alternative is very insulting, but it must be one of those 2 at this point.

Quote

As for the point, well, they're not putting it on for general sale where everyone can buy it, it's an upgrade, which is slightly different.

NO, it is not.

It is, in completely unaltered form, the original sale which is still ongoing. It IS very much "On general sale where everyone can buy it". It is still the original link and everything, you can still buy a ggold mech and a masakari package, you can still buy a la carte... NOTHING has changed, because the sale never ended. Only the preorder bonuses, because it`s not a preorder anymore.

Not a reboot, late upgrade, or some other post-fact version that you want it to be in nthis dream world you are trying to concoct.. The "limited time" is in fact stilll now, you just refuse to see it despite numerous attempts by myself and others to tell you.

If you cannot understand why you cannot purchase a 1999 car new in 2014 but can buy a 2014 model any day of the week and will still be able to for the next few months, nobody here can forseeably help you past whatever brick wall is inside your head that forbids you to understand both why nothing lasts forever and why that the present and the past are not in any way the same thing, at least not in this dimension.

And your suggestion about "wiggling through" would not in any way relieve PGI from responsibilty for breaking the explicit terms of sale to all the owners of all previous packs. You just want your cheap king crab at any cost, including PGI`S livelyhood, and instead of bringing actual counterarguments you`re really only incessantly saying "i don`t understand, please explain it in simple terms"... At this point the only simpler terms would however be either exclusively one syllabic, or chained together in the form of a picturebook for toddlers, which are just barely sufficient to communicate the apparently highly advanced concept of "buy our stuff now, why you still can, or miss out."

Instead you`re constantly essentlially saying "Getting MY 40 dollars is more important than potentioally losing everone else`s collective few hundred thoussand", which is an absolutely ludicrous suggestion and in itself almost fully defines the expression "Dissociated from reality".

Please just admit that you`re just trying everything you can to justify PGI commiting financial suicide and slapping thousands of players in the face just so you can get the king crab for as cheap as possible, because you`re quickly runnning out of straws to grasp and other avenues to argue.

Seriously, your only potential argumentation at this point if you stay your course boils down to "please explain to me for a fourth time or more a concept that a toddler understands, namely why I cannot purchase a limited product from times gone by but can purchase factory new porducts every day of the week". Do you really want to paint yourself into that corner?

Hey russ,

I love this idea.. But I think itd properly work out if you released the new IS along the same time line that you do with the second wave of clan mechs. So each month wed get two mechs, one clan and one IS! That way each faction has some thing to look forward to.

If you mean "work out" by delaying the Clan mechs until they have doubled up with the IS mechs that have not even been started yet, sure, but I would rather have them staggered. He is going to try to have the IS package announced by Dec 16th, when the first Clan Wave 2 mechs rolls out, but that is just the announcement, not the actual mechs being ready, just like they announced Wave 2 a week or two ago and they will not actually be out until December (well, except for the Mad Dog...)

The Clan Wave 2 top tier is a little overpriced considering the Gargoyle isn't strictly superior to any Inner Sphere assaults. The reason the clan mechs were priced higher was because of their systems being more advanced omnipods and such.

With locked standard structure that makes no sense in the same universe that an Atlas and a Dragon can upgrade to Endo steel, very limited pod space, being forced to take 6 tons of heatsinks even for low heat builds, not being able to upgrade the armor or change the engine, trying to tell us this Mech is worth as much as an a la carte Timberwolf that by default has more weapons and more armor, and better speed, (when you take heavy vs assault handling into consideration) is downright silly...

It's a paywall to get to the King Crab. And a pretty clever one, considering how many people are excited about the new Inner Sphere 100-tonner!

I'm still buying it, 4 clan faction packs with colors and fun stuff I can use on any mech is a pretty good buy, and the King Crab was the deciding factor. The Gargoyle itself has an eye catching design even if the specs aren't up to par, I'll probably use a Laser build, and one other with a single autocannon.

If they can pump out an Inner Spheremech pack with a top tier before Dec 16, that will qualify. People just need to vote for the Grasshopper, its obviously the one they've already been working on. If they have to go with the Black Knight, it won't be out in time for 12/16. Though since it is a preorder, maybe they'll throw it up a few days before as a December surprise. But then there's the risk people will want a Clan Wave refund so they can buy the Inner Sphere pack on account of how crappy the Gargoyle (relatively) is.
I'm confused by your statement...

Really I am.

How is the top tier man o' war pack (4x3 mechs with extras) for $120 (+$30 over the previous package) in any way equivalent to an a la carte Timber Wolf (1x3 mechs) for $55?

And if you already had the Masakari pack, it grants you the Mad Dog as well. (which is amazing in its own right)

A: Some of us have, kids, jobs etc... and 3 hours is a sizable chunk of time to set aside answering a question that was answered 2 years ago.

B: I'm not the one complaining.

Like I said, we have "free" mechs. We just don't get them right off the bat. Servers cost mony and Devs gotta eat. Mechs that get released for cash get released for CBills down the line. This has been and still is the "standard" release structure for new mechs. Deviations from it and other special cases were just that. AKA not normal.

Take 20 minutes a day and spread it out.

NOT REALLY THAT HARD if you actually WANTED to do it.

So say you dont want to; dont throw job/kids/whatever lie up as an excuse.

I HATE it when ppl do that -.-

All Founders should be getting a King Crab, not just the top tier pack. BECAUSE FOUNDER TAG

Give me a reason to come back to this game because I left it a year ago still no CW yet. Unless I missed the CW patch.

All founders are getting an Atlas, and probably a Centurian.

But honestly, if the only reason you're not coming back to this game is because you didn't get a free King Crab, then perhaps you're not the audience the game needs to get back anyway. The game needs players who enjoy playing, and some who are willing to spend money, not players who hold the game hostage for free stuff.

-----

Anyway, Russ I believe has confirmed they are offering a new IS package at some point you can purchase to get the King Crab as a bonus mech. THat's part of what the Assault and Heavy polls were about (supposedly they have a slam dunk medium and light, and not the Urbanmech)

I've stopped giving PGI my money since spending $100+ on 2 al-la-carte mechs meant nothing but a money grab to them.

No reason why I left was because matchmaker is crap, get tired of 12-0 stomps in just about every game I play, tired of the same damn modes over and over, and tired of stupid ass people buying mech packs when they should have been keeping their money in their pockets screaming give us CW before i buy some ****.....not to mention all these damn sync drops going on, **** gets old quick.

if you single queue it should match you with single queue people only not this well I'll just grab this 4 man over here, or this 12 man here...it aint fun

BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, thanks. I needed that. =') Oh, man, you obivously care WAAAAY too much about this. I'll admit, I was jerking your chain a bit there with that last post, but man you've got a hard on for this don't you? My $40 is more important than everyone else? I've got a brick wall in my head? DIdn't I ask to avoid the ad-hominine attacks? All you're doing is twisting the scenario to make it look as if I'm utterly irrational and trying to harm the game. I understand completely, I just utterly disagree with it.

What I want is an option that's been denied because a bunch of selfish, narcissistic people feel that somehow they'll be made less when other people have the same things that they do and are essentially holding PGI hostage by saying that they'll stop spending money unless they get their way.

Oh, as for your car purchasing analogy, well, actually, yes, I can purchase a 'new' 1999 car in 2014, it just has to happen to have not been driven in the past 15 years. It's unlikely, but it's possible...now here's the fun part, since the Phoenix package is code, unlike a car, it was made once and then just copied. So there's no real restriction on there, no unlikelihood of finding a 15 year old car in perfect shape with no miles on it, one just simply reactivates some code and voila, they're available again. Not very car like at all...

Like I said earlier, there's no rational here other than there are a bunch of people that would somehow feel diminished if others were to have a chance to get what they have and are threatening to take their ball and go home if they don't get their way...and that's the long and short of it.

What makes you feel this way? For purchasing Mechs AL-la carte they are giving you a Hero Atlas and a free mechbay to house it in? Awarding you a $30+ package seems pretty appreciative to me...do you feel slighted because it's not the gift you would have given yourself?....Seriously?

Technically since all of the wave 1 clan mechs haven't been fully released yet (although we are getting close), parts of it are still a pre-order. It's likely that once all of wave 1 is out in the store, the Wave one packs and a la cartes will stop being offered.

And I meant the overall wave 2 was a little overpriced because even though Clan Mechs are being featured, the Heavy and Assaults don't have certain upgrades like Endo Steel, so end up being not quite the value of other Mechs in their weight class from previous packs.

Then, as an entirely separate package, the Gargoyle al a carte is priced the same as the other Timberwolf and a Stormcrow a la cartes, but is lacking in comparitive value.

Timberwolf has a lot free space to use, and the variants and omnipods let you mix and match for a huge variety of different weapon configurations. The freedom to make nearly any build you can imagine is a lot of value for people that like to be creative or competitive. The Stormcrow, while not as robust as the Timberwolf, is just an all around awesome medium mech with great speed for class, and a good variety of loadout options.

The Gargoyle is not all together awful, but the lack of free tonnage and most weapons being restricted to just the arm hard-points severely hampers its playability.

Now if PGI gives in to whiners devoted future customers, and rushes out the preorders for an 80 dollar Innersphere Mechpack, that features 4 prime 30% c-bill Mechs and 8 variants; and we can line up each mech side by side with their equivalent clan counterparts from the Wave 2 packs, and we see that the Black Knight and Zeus are even battle values of the Hellbringer and Gargoyle; why did my Clan pack cost 40 extra dollars?

Funny, the only posts I've read threatening to quit (or claiming they have already quit and aren't coming back) are from the whiners that DID NOT buy the packages when they were available and are now exceedingly BUTT HURT because, by making that decision way back then, they are missing out of something in the present.

Completely disregard the fact that when those of us that DID BUY a package way back when, did so without knowing we would be getting a new shiny here in the present.

Stop whining, take what you are given and be happy with it, or take your marbles and go play in another sand box. I doubt the game is going to die without your presence.

You are correct.
It changes nothing however. I paid for an elitist experience and I got it! Myself and others like me...notice my Overlord Flag?
I flaunt it. Where is yours?
You could have done the same but chose not to.
The program becomes less elite if Johnny Come Lately complains and gets in on it after the program has been officially terminated. I am not for that at all.
Maybe you don't understand or maybe you are just jealous and trolling. Either way your posts are annoying.

As mentioned in other places, while I had mainly an interest in the Shadow Hawk, I also did have an interest in the Battlemaster. However, like many youngish people at the time I was unemployed and had to work pretty hard to scrap together the $40 just to get my beloved Shadow Hawks. There was no way I could justify dropping an additional $40 on the Overlord package.

Since then, I have managed to be lucky enough to get a job and do have some spare cash laying around. That said, I've no interest in the Zeus or the Cyclops, so while there is an option available, it's just not for me.

Less elite? Here's a crazy hint for you: you're not a better person because of your property. As for me being incapable of understanding, or trolling, I'll leave that interpretation up to you.

If you're not having fun, stop playing. It's simple. Holding PGI hostage to give you free stuff or else you're not coming back doesn't help (Your post came across as "Give me a King Crab or I'm not coming back").

I've not seen sync dropping of any large scale in the single queue. Chances are it's even harder to do now that you can't guarantee the game mode. Not saying it's not happening, but the logistics of it mean it's not likely to be happening when you can play in the group queue. I dropped randomly with 3 different friends during the Tounry. All were on my side, strangely, but it was rare (and in all cases, just 2 of us, and we weren't both on some comm coordinating it). Best way to avoid it though is to simply find a group to drop with.
