Yes that is the mwo that I want. I would rather have that then nerf this mech, then the next mech, then the next mech. See it is an endless cycle. That's the problem with balancing. There is always something to complain about it and if the devs listened to every complaint then the game would be broken beyond repair.

500 damage is a lot to do to any one mech, but it isn't inconceivable that you could spread that across a timberwolf's arms/legs/torso without actually destroying any components.

I would suggest that if you actually managed to accomplish that you could stand to aim a bit better, though.


mechs have internal structure equal to the maxed armor on each component divided by 2

100/100 CT armor points - 50 internal structure points
70/100 CT armor points - 50 internal structure points

This isn't Red Vs. Blue, or CS or CoD or what other pile of dung passes for a online game... this is Mechwarrior, there are expeications to be upheld. Not everything has to be ballanced, in a TEAM game for one on one.

Do I feel godlike in my Timber Wolf? Nope, but then again I'm not a meta player or min maxing my armour. I don't try to take on an Atlas or Dire Wolf head on, even a Banshee or a War Hawk is a tricky fight head on, but a Stalker or AWS? sure, I'll pick a fight with them, I may not win, but it'll be a hell of a ride.

Out of all the mechs in the game the only one that was direclty nerfed as a chassis was the Victor. Thats one (1) mech out of how many? And if they end up nerfing the TW that would two (2). If it was an endless cycle as you said i would agree with you but its not. Its something that needs to happen. believe me im againts constast nerfing (or buffing) too.

The vast majority of people playing online games want to win more than they want to do X thing that is fun. This game is no different and the simple fact that the heavy queue is around 40-50% should tell you that the Timberwolf is too strong.

Most of the time I see the last man standing is in a Timberwolf, but I'm sure that's just because they're better pilots, right?

Sure this is only the second time so it's not an issue yet. But there are still more mechs to come. Someone is bound to make a thread about one of those mechs being over powered. So two becomes three. It doesn't end. And when you nerf or buff something then we see another strategy develop and there is a call to have that nerfed or buffed.

If they dont do something about the TW that EXCACTLY what MWO end up being. because 90% of the player will end up playing a TW. The only practicaly stopping htem right now is the 3/3/3/3 and the fact some people just like to try different chassis but when it come to competitve p[lay the TW is what u will see them in.

You said it this is Mechwarrior not Timberwolfwarrior...Just have a loomk at the heavy queue 40%+ almost every day. What do you think these people are running? Summoners?!

I am not absolutely certain of this, but I believe in community warfare clan mechs can only be piloted by people who have aligned with the clans. This alone will prevent everyone from being a Timber Wolf. Until then the 3/3/3/3 limit naturally limits the amount of heavies in the match. You are spreading fear with your hyperbole.

From what I see in the PUG matches that I get? Mostly Jager's, 'Phract's and Catapults, the odd Summoner, Quick Draw and Orion. When I play, there have been times where I have had the only Timber Wolf on the feild. Hell last night I had one where I was the only clan mech on the feild, and the OPFOR had 3 DDC's!

i agree but the thing with TWs is not that a few guys compleined about them. And i'm sure that the Devs dont run around nerfing mechs everytime someone starts crying about some mech. there is clearly something wrong with the TWs and needs fixing. you can see it in the queue numbers and you can see it ingame. If you ask me i'd say hitboxes. i'd hate to see the the TW get the victor treatment even though i dont own one (yet).

Yeah, it wasn't a big deal to me. I was just adding to the topic at hand. I blew off both arms, and legged him... but never was I able to kill him. Sure, this could attribute to user error (my own) while going against the Timberwolf... again, I was just making that example to add to the subject of the OP. For added clarification tho, it's not as if I set out to 1v1 a Timber. He got on me, I was left behind by the group (which is often the case) and it was either turn my back and run while getting hammered the entire time, never actually losing him... OR turn and brawl and do what I could.

Sorry to hear that you had a crappy team, I make sure to always support my Big Greens, even more so if they are a DDC, since I run an Alt. D Timber Wolf, DDC's are my BFF! :lol:

I'm always nervous when they modify hit boxes. I know from piloting an Awesome that hit box issues are a real pain. That should probably be the last thing to change.

To be fair I have only recently returned to the game after an extended absence so I don't have as much experience fighting the clan mechs as most of the others here. The Timber Wolf is also my favorite mech of all time and I do have to admit that bias.

Dude we're talking Mechwarrior Online here, not some game with fairies and unicorns farting rainbows that you're describing.

No this is an online F2P Battle Tech Shooter.

That means it is based on battle tech.

That means mechs & even factions (even IS vs. IS factions) were not designed to "balanced" 1v1.


Maybe you want Hawken instead?

i can understand that. i like the Tw a lot too.

and if you think about it this problem is not just about balance its also bad bussiness practice, another thing that many people dont seem to understand. Its like PGI saying "hey guys we have 50 mechs for sale YAAAY...buuuut actually only one is worth buying...so we put all these recourses into making 50 mechs buuuut you are only going to buy one..." eeeh....

It usually happens on the worst maps. Like Alpine, I'm stuck halfway down the mountain, not able to climb and the enemy is flanking behind me, while everyone is 500m ahead, or up on the ridge. Or, another example is Canyon Network. If we spawn next to the bridge (D2) and everyone goes towards Gamma (E3-ish), I have so much ground to cover before I can actually get to higher ground. This is especially frustrating in conquest because the enemy is usually headed towards Epsilon and I end up with a couple lights and maybe a medium harassing... usually following me all the way down the line...

ANYWAY, this is all for a completely different thread. Sorry for getting off-topic..

-sigh- I said most of what I see are jager's, 'phracts and Catapults, usualy 2 to 4 of those, often I see 2 to 3 Timber's counting myself... I had a game lastnight where I was the only Timber Wolf on my team, we had a Jager and a Catapult along with my Timber, the OPFOR had a Dragon Quickdraw and Summoner, the match took place in River City. I accounted for the Dragon and Quickdraw kills, but the Summoner got me in the end.
