Just played against a unit named [redacted] that makes use of this tactic. I was under the impression this is not allowed, has that changed?

Screenshots have been submitted to MWO in the event it is not legal. Have the names as well but will not post them.

Wouldn't have been so bad but it was a Direwolf sitting on top of a Timby........imagine that coming at you at 80kph or so........might think that confers an advantage of sorts.

Saw an enemy kit fox sitting on to of a dire wolf once in a conquest match. Thought it was hilarious even as I shot him off of our guy.

Sitting on top of another mech to go faster is not supposed to be done. And even then I believe the game mechanics work so that you can only do that so long as you do not turn while traveling. Otherwise you fall off.

Thanks for not posting them, and thank you for reporting them. It's a violation of the Terms of Use if you abuse game mechanics in order to cheat, like moving slow Mechs across the field on top of faster Mechs. Stuff like that should only be permitted in private matches between friends, not public matches or competitive events of any sort. Even then, it's just a matter of time until it's patched out of the game.

Yes until we get this fixed it is likely going to be considered an exploit and punishable by suspension etc. I need to discuss with CS more on Monday.

Implement DFA's already. That'll deter people from letting their team mates stand on their head :)

A DWF sitting on top of a Locust and the DWF charges at you at 160kph..... I think I will piss in my pants right there

Btw Russ, this is good chance to implement the Death From Above mechanic *hint hint wink wink*

I would be willing to take the D just to see this used effectively. I think it would be hilarious.

Eh... this seems like a huge buzzkill for something that's so funny and so difficult to maintain. I've only ever done this accidentally while trying to jump jet over a teammate, but it was hilarious to see a highlander riding a stalker around for a short time. I'd love to see aerial knockdowns and DFA implemented again, but I don't think that punishing players for having fun in a video game is really something that we as a community should be doing. This tactic is so rare that I haven't seen it in a game since the stat reset.

If only there was a mechanic that could prevent this... like if multiple mechs collided they would fall down?

It is not that it is not funny or the speed so much as the game used to be unable to determine where exactly where the top 'Mech was and they basically had a lag shield. I haven't seen anyone do it in combat in a while so I do not know if the hit reg issue still applies.

I think they should fix the fact you cant aim while riding other mechs.

And if you think this was done seriously as an exploit, maximum overlawl.

1: Then you need to keep check on the NGNG crew. They were streaming them doing it.

2: The guy on top cannot fire, and when he did it did not register.

3: You did not loose due to this,, you rush our group with your LRM build group against brawlers.

4: The guy on top was STRIPPED..

5: NAME AND SHAME in forums?

6: It was all streamed and you can watch to see we were have FUN bsing around, and not trying to EXPLOIT anything.

Any way,, it is not effective or you would see everyone doing it..

We just encountered the same group with the same exploitative behavior. Russ, I sent in a support ticket (142457) with screenshots.

when the same unit does it constantly, yeah, it is, because it becomes very hard to damage them.

Really, because the top mech usually loses legs shortly after they start moving or dies first because of additional exposure. Also lurms.. lurms everywhere.

It's nice to see Russ and crew around more often now. Hope he does not hand this to the nerfinator though. Had not seen this problem since they nerfed highlander. Remember when they used to run on ravens?

Glad to hear it. HAve seen [redacted] members doing it several times now. They keep it up, hope it bites them in the butt.

ahemm... 2 matches.. On hpg out of boredom while the enemy camped under. 2nd on Terra, while they camped inside.. Yup. And we lost screwing around having fun so we got over it and been playing. (before this post!)

FFS,, 15k+ matches and you have fun on 2 maps and the freaking world ends.. ohh well, fun time is over, forums quiet down we are back in ALPHA mode.. (to be complained about in future 12man drop complaint post)
