Hellloooo,

Here is my current setup:

AMD Phenom II 1100T Processor (3.3GHz)

Gigabyte 870A UD3 motherboard

8GB Ram

Radeon HD 6950 GDDR5 2gb
750 watt

When the match starts, and there's nothing going on, it i'll hover around the mid-upper 40's. Once the fighting starts, though, my FPS quickly drops to the 30's and often dips into the 20's. There are some levels, especially when I use my heat vision, that my FPS just stays in the 20's-low 30's.

BTW, my graphics settings are bottomed out...everything set to Low with no AA, and it's been like that for the best year. When I first got the computer, it ran MWO on medium-high settings just fine.

On the systemrequirementslab.com, it shows that my computer should have plenty of power to run it. I bought the computer in 2011, so I don't know if it's simply time for some hardware upgrades or if I have a software issue going on.... :(

Any advice?

This game is extremely cpu demanding, a lot of people have this kind of performance.

I think they just haven't optimized the game yet. I have similar specs from the competing companies, and I also have trouble, despite the fact that there's really no game I can't play at medium graphics. I think they just aren't finished with it yet.

Gotcha. I'll try not to be a perfectionist and be patient. Thanks!

I recently upgraded to an i5-4570k 3.4GHz from a Phenom II X6, thinking that the better single threaded performance of the i5 would stop Frozen City from going to 20 fps on heat vision. Nope! Still crap frame rates if you turn particles to high or medium. Had to keep it on low.

My GPU is a Radeon 7850. This game is not GPU intensive. Just badly written.

Sir, you are way low on Hz.

Teh Good New is you have six full cores to work with.

IIRC, the "video" settings that hate CPUs are Particals, Shadows, Object Detail, and Environment: Get all of these down to Medium or less and see how it goes.

In fact, environment may as well be low for everone on the planet, as few can see what higher settings bring to the game.

Good luck with your new overclock! Posted Image

I've got a radeon 6950 with an Intel 4670k. I'm usually in the 50-60fps range, high settings, dx9.

I ran an AMD 1055t oc'd to 3.3 for a long time. I saw a pretty big improvement when I upgraded.

Ran A Phenom II x6 1100t at 4.25 to 4.27 GHZ OC'd (on water) for a long time.
I had ZERO issues running MWO.

If you're going to run that Phenom II x6 1100t, you're going to need to clock it to 4.1 ghz and leave it, you will get better peformance out of it... 3.3GHZ is a low spot for running MWO.

Also:
  • Textures is about RAM on the card: You can go Very High
  • Shading is about the GPU core, so you'll have to test
  • Effects may as well be Very High
  • Post Processing … is some kind'a religious issue around here. The advice I've read is use mear High.
  • Leave the Anti-Aliasing at PostAA: It's virtually free.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ran into problems overclocking, never did it before, so Im going to play with it later. But....I updated my bios and all of graphics drivers, and did some basic maintenance (defrag, etc) and it made a very noticeable difference. I was able to set my graphics to medium (and a few to high) and I am still getting better frame rates than previously with my graphics at the bare minimum. Thanks again!

this game is really poorly optimized. If it makes you feel any better, I have an overclocked 780 ti and an i5 3570k @ 4.8ghz...I run the game between 40-70fps @1080p most of thetime

MWO hates AMD cpu's you need to overclock to atleast 4ghz which shouldnt be an issue and that should get some decent fps... also try adjusting the settings that Goose mentioned.

I would look at some other things. Is the CPU OC at all? Completely remove and install drivers again? How aggressive are the ATI panel settings?

I am running the same cpu, OC 4.2 and 7950. With Vsync off its lowest is 40fps in the mix of things and everything blowing up to 90ish on a clear day. On the same map I have not see any FPS changes when I change mode. I run it about med/high setting.
