yeh, cos all games run dx12, you're lucky if you find 5 AAA games that run dx9 let alone dx11.

So, I got my 980 in yesterday, and wow, what an improvement. I have a 2560x1080 monitor, and previously had a 660ti plugged in. To get consistent frames around 40-50fps, I used a variety of settings between medium and Very High on DX9.

I can now run all the settings at Very High using Post AA in DX11 (I haven't bothered to try MSAA or TXAA yet) and get 50-60 (I use adaptive v-sync, so I'm not sure what the max frames would be) on average. Lowest I saw was 36 fps, and that's likely a bottleneck with my i5-2500k clocked at 4.3Ghz.

I did do some benchmarks using Metro 2033. The results:
660ti:
Spoiler

980:
Spoiler

Other games, like the witcher 2, also run really well. I've maxed out all the settings (including UberSampling) and get 40-50fps. It's an absolutely amazing card.

You know, it's just a thought but I'd bet you could optimize one of those systems if you moved the 5650 to the system with the E6750. That might help your MWO performance.

Not really... all the reviews and benchmarks are in, and the 980 is performing better than the 780ti almost across the board. *marginally* better, but better. It's certainly not worth upgrading from a 780ti to a gtx 980.. I agree, I'd wait for the 980ti will be a beast... but the 980 is a faster card (I have seen some reviews where the 780ti pulls ahead on 4k games, probably due to its larger memory bandwidth). Plus the 980 is an overclocking beast.

For me, I had a 650 ti, and the difference is astounding. I've got 2x in my build, with a third on the way :-))

Every review I have seen places the 980 faster then the 780Ti, at a lower power draw.

I was looking into the 900 series but none of them are really that much better than what I have right now, running dual GTX680 Lightnings from MSI and the specs on the currently available 900 series cards aren't much different aside from the RAM size.

I think I will stick with these and wait for the next series.

Not really... a single gtx 980 blows gtx 680 2x sli out of the water.

For example, on 3dmark 11 P, 980s are routinely getting over 18,000 overall score. (http://www.3dmark.co...version+1.0.132)

SLI'd 680s get in the 14k overall score neighborhood (http://www.3dmark.co...version+1.0.132)

Probably not worth the upgrade for MWO, but a single 980 will generally perform significantly better than sli'd 680s, at lower noise, heat, and power draw. But if you're looking for a monster righ, I agree, wait until the ti's come out.

I just picked up my Gigabyte GTX 970 (G1 Gaming, because screw using those blower fans). Light years ahead of my GTX 460 SLI set up but that's obvious. Cranked everything up to very high @ 1920*1200 and pulled it off without a hitch. I never collected data for my old set up so I don't see much point in compairing, but this card is extremely good bang for buck as far as I can tell.

I will be making a new case with optimised air flow while I'm of Uni for summer. I may post comparisons between my set up now, and my set up then (clocked to crap). Should be interesting to see the difference. My 4670k is running stock ATM aswell since I havn't had enough free time that I'm willing to spare for that extra GHz.

how is that G1 gigabyte card? the initials reviews on it are absolutely outstanding id like to hear more details on how you like yours. i generally go with EVGA but there 970 has gotten some bad bad reviews due to a defective ACX heatsink pipe and extremely cheap shroud/fan assembly... does the extremely large size of that G1 card make any issues for u?

I had to cut a slot on my hdd bay to fit it, so you need to check if it fits if you aren't willing to mood your case. So far I've only spent about half an hour tinkering with it but in that time tennis have been much lower than my 460s and doing much quieter. Sitting at about 60 degrees c. I haven't overclocked yet and to be honest my case will probably hold it back. It does sit bang on its boost click with out any issues so far, but again I've not had much time yet.

Build quality is good, the metal shroud and back plate are nice and don't get marked by fingerprints easily. The cable that lights the windforce logo is miss placed in my opinion (no big deal). The metal used for the bracket is a little bendy, but wasn't a problem. The heat pipes and heat sink find appear to be high quality.

Not, sure if this is the proper place to post this, but I have recently been having issues with object pop-up and pop-out that is especially worse at longer ranges. Objects (especially enemy mechs) will bee seen then pop-out *poof* seconds later pop-in *poof* frames are great at 5760x1080 with 2 gtx 980 SLI. Worked great up until a week ago or so... Hoping there is a simple fix to what hopefully is a common problem.

I have this card. Run very thing on Very High with FXAA and using Shadowplay for capture. I get over 60 FPS on all maps. I'm not sure of the max FPS as my monitor refresh rate is 60 so I lock the max FPS there so my card is working hard to put out unneeded Frames.

Picked up the EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid (AIO Liquid Cool).

Running it at 4K; all options on highest settings.

Runs MWO very well and heat tops out at 45 C.

Previous GPUs: EVGA 970 FTW and VisionTek R9 290 had some issues at 4K but were playable with settings on low.

I am currently running an EVGA GTX 980 Superclock and an Acer XB270HU (http://www.amazon.co...n/dp/B00UPVXDA8)

I have everything maxed for settings in MWO and my frames tend to be around 120 to a low 70 when I got embroiled in a furball with everyone blasting away.

There is that new 30 inch curved monitor coming but I am really happy with my current combo

I'm running the 4790k CPU with a 970GTX, but my frame rate sits between 40 and 70. Is this normal? Doesn't seem all that much better than my old rig which is a lot worse in comparison.
