In any MMO I have played.

Full time gamers are under an illusion that they need wide variety of avatars to fit in with different teams or missions.

The reality is, most of the time such effort only gains a small increase in performance. One mech per role and focus on perfecting those mechs loadout, keeping them repaired and getting very very used to playing in them should be enough.

I myself hope to only ever use the 4 founders mechs and in doing so be recognized a lot more also. Good players who play all day, every day, for years. Are often not recognized very much because they jump from avatar to avatar so often.

At least 2 in each weight class. Variety is the spice of life. Especially since I don't have to level up alts.

I will definately not get every single one but I will most likely try a lot of them out.
While in my clan I will probably stick to one role, the one I end up being best in and is fun to me, but otherwise I'd like to play diverse roles.
Of the 'Mechs that will be in the game at this point I can think of about 7 alone that I'd really like to have, maybe even different variants of a couple of those.

Well considering that you need to own all variants just to get the best perks for that type of mech, I assume i will be more 5-10. Because I would like to at least have 2 options that I have perks in.

There are a few that I probably wouldn't buy just cause I know the hardpoint loadouts wouldn't work with my play style. I still would like to have about 60 percent of the available mechs though just for varieties sake

Variety is the spice of life. ;) Mechs, women, food... I could eat steak and potatoes from now till the end of my days but it doesn't stop me from enjoying some grilled tuna.
Is it cannon to have a personal hanger of Mechs, no. But hell if I wont enjoy giving up my CAT every now and then for some Jenner speed to blaze over the field.

5-10. I like being able to fufill a chosen role (for me- long range fire support) different way (I.E. Trebuchet, Catapult, and Stalker) in addition to having some mechs that I think look cool (Centurion and Atlas)

I doubt that I'll spend too much time on my Jenner. I'll probably focus on the Catapult and Atlas. Either way, more Mechs will come and I may just use those instead of my Founder's.

I probably won't ever give up on the Atlas. Sure it's slow, but if engine upgrades are incorporated then I'll get that thing up to 70kph and belong all your base with medium lasers.

How many do I expect to have? Hells dude, I'll keep buying em 'till I run out of favourites.
