I do think they add something both visually and in the form of cover to preventing what could be more long distance sniping gameplay.

I do have some fairly high hopes that this will finally land on top of the priority heap as soon as CW phase 2 comes out.

Normally, I'd agree wholeheartedly; soft cover is essential for interesting gameplay in something like MWO where positioning and sightlines are so important.

But trees only block vision in one direction. Most trees have their draw distances set near enough that a mech engaging from tree cover has a hard time seeing, but anyone observing that mech from a distance sees them standing in the open. The trees on Forest Colony, for example, have a draw distance of ~600m, which is certainly enough to have a big impact on anything with PPCs, Gauss, or large lasers, especially because there are a few groves directly in firing lines.

EDIT: And this is with all my details on maximum settings. If I recall, the draw distance goes down the lower your settings are, as well.

It seems like we are running out of things to complain about when we ask the devs to remove trees.

So they don't fall, big deal. They add some cover and obscure a person's sight from firing...thats what trees do. I would like them to be dynamic and fall down, but I don't need them to. I'm pretty sure most people don't even think about the trees when they play.

Trees are fine, move along.

Sitting in the trees on Caustic Valley, providing cover fire and radar support is useful I think and so similar on Forest Colony.

Seems radar can see you, so up to player to be more aware of these locations surely? But Destructible might be useful.

i fully concur, the only thing trees do with such short draw distances is block your los not the enemy from see where u are.

either trees need to block los for both parties or none,

having them only blocking los of 1 side is not an equal battlefield so why even bother with them?

If it wasnt for the giant glowing squares around the enemy I would agree.

I think if the trees obscured my Dorito from enemies the way they block my vision I would be one happy camper.

As in I would camp. Right there, behind the trees.

Edit:
Incidentally, I hope this does not devolve into a nerf trees QQ thread.

If they can't be destructible, then they should be removed.

Anything that SHOULD be destructible, but currently isn't because of engine/programming restrictions, should go until that changes.

I'm all for having trees with tactical value, but the fact they can't be destroyed annoys me to no end.
