Pretty much the title says it all.

You can't even say the units name. As per my previous thread, since i mentioned there unit name it's been deleted.

So how do we as a community weed out these units that are run by abusive generals?

From my POV if the general is abusing people in team chat, doesn't that mean the members are likely to be of the same type?

Its an online video game, with players at varying levels of rage. Trash talk is part of the game.

If they are straight up swearing and all that jazz then report them.

If you are this fragile you can also just turn off global chat. In fact you had to go out of your way to even turn it on.

If your teammates are abusing you. Well that sucks. Just ignore them? Or perhaps consider that even though they are ******** they might be giving you useful advice because you are messing up.

I know I'm not always nice to teammates doing dumb stuff but I'm not calling out people who aren't making really horrible basic mistakes either.

how is it dumb to come back from a crash before your even started to have some idiot on your team absuing you when there been rolled 10-2 and 1st thing i do is volley off a salvo of lrms while finding cover?

I've crashed on loading, was alive when i come back, and there screaming that cause i'm trying to find cover and brawl with my 4 srm6's instead of standing there and fighting 10 mechs in my summoner i was wasting there time.

then with my aussie ping, when u look from my mech it seems i miss when i'm actually hitting and do more damage in 1 minute than the unit i was being abused did almost combined?

Edit why would i have the other team chat not turned on? i know a lot of people and we greet each other when we get forced to face off, plus it was on my own team, so your saying i should turn off my team chat and just not even try and play like a team player?

Ok so I fail to see why this hurt your feelings so badly that you needed a thread. You crashed, they got rolled, they wanted to blame someone, so this was your fault somehow.

They sucked you don't. Who cares seriously?

Take a screenshot and send it with an explanatory e-mail to PGI's support staff. If the person is doing something against the rules, hopefully they'll deal with it. But that's about all you can do in the case that the leader of a group is the one being problematic.

Not completely. I never say anything to anybody but I play with people that talk smack at times. Its not my style but if they want to do it then whatever. Just don't worry about, its just words.

In this day and age, mere "words" can and have landed people in really hot water, even while playing MWO.

The last patch introduced the option and defaulted everybody to turn ALL CHAT off. You need to go back into the options to turn it back on. Not as much effort as others implied, but still a conscious decision.

As for the other issue, just decide if you want to report it. If not, well... "Let it Go" is as good as any advice.

Uhh....we as a community don't weed people out?!? Take screen shots and send it to support so they can do the weeding instead of airing it out in public???

Chill out. Sometimes people have constructive things to say in team chat. Sometimes its just insults. Filter out the insults and then figure out if their constructive things that they say are actually any good. Its better than players that do not communicate or read or listen.

On similar topic, though.

Are there any units with strict regs against sexist/homophobic/denigratory type talk? I get that trash talk is part of player culture, but it feels hard to escape the 'unthinkingly using terms and concepts which are massively offensive to not-SWM types' thing, even though I get the impression it's never used maliciously.

I think people here are pretty fast with the term "abuse" - calling someone an "idiot" or his actions "dumb" is hardly abusive. It is not nice, though but you're on the internet so get a thicker skin. people are morons, anyway, you can't avoid that in an online game.

And if it bothers you that much, just turn in off.

Sometimes this feels like kindergarten, if I'd rage up for every troll in global chat I would have died from a heart attack already.

Players violating the griefing rules or the code of conduct can and should be reported to support@mwomercs.com. You can also use the web-form you find under support, though some users reported problems with it recently.

In your report please make sure that the following informations are included:
- Name of the offending player
- Type of offense
- Map played
- Date, time and timezone

Additionally you can provide the following to help the staff in sorting things:
- Names of other players involved (witnesses)
- Screenshots
- Links to videos or other material that might be usefull for this specific case.

It's not the communites duty to weed out bad seeds. That's what the gamemaster of PGI are for, when it is ingame, or the moderation team, when it is on the forums. Players have no authority over other players in the game.
