Alex Iglesias was online with a 2x C-ERPPC 2x C-MG Summoner about 12 hours ago and was doing rather well with it.

This game is what you make it and if you simply follow the meta to give yourself every last desperate chance to be on top of the leaderboard, you have no imagination and to be honest you're not that good a gamer really.

Will get my wave I stuff injected in a few hours and I already have loads of different builds lined up. I doubt my favourite ones will be anything like meta.

Working my way though leveling up my Masakari Clan pack and would just like to mention one thing.

First, with the Omnipod architecture there is no substantive difference between the variants of any Clan chassis. I can build exactly the same mech (with some minor tweak differences) out of any of the three variants of any Clan mech. So.....really, we didn't get 24 mechs for $240, we got 8. Effectively, just 8 different mechs.

Of those 8 mechs only 3 are actually playable. The Nova had a brief run but PGI wrecked it with the recent nerfs - so it is fast disappearing from the battle field. The only mechs you see consistently are; the Kitfox, the Timber Wolf, and the Dire Wolf. There's a reason for that. The other 5 mechs are sub-par at best. Even with the omnipod approach they have so many restrictions and limitations that it's impossible to build a fun, combat effective mech. Check out the Summoner if you want proof of that. Just horrible.

So....for $240 we got just 3 playable mechs.

Probably less than that soon. You just know the Timber Wolf will have to be nerfed soon. There are two or three in every match. Can't have that. They will probably be made unplayable soon just as the Nova was.

Errr... the SCR is one of the best mechs in the game.

...well dang. Learn something new. So, I can unequip an omni pod and leave it without, say, an arm?

Yep. Many of mine are in this state. You'll get a "red triangle" warning, but it will save just fine.

Odd you would mention a 2 CERPPC SMN in the same sentence as non meta. That along with the gauss CERPPC were the 2 orginal meta builds for it prior to JJ and PPC nerfs.

2 ERPPC summoner is NOT meta PPC is not META anymore. Hitscan is tho....

Same thing i run on my Summoner Prime....its a good build and a slight deviation from most canon config, many had dual ERPPC's or an ERPPC and a LRG Pulse or ER Large. But mid range and sniping was its bag.

As someone said, the Stormcrow wanted me to pass along he disagrees with you. Also Summoners, Novas, Adders, and Masarakis while underwhelming are far from unusable......just ask my SRM boat Summoner. (Thank you SRM6 range / CD module)

Nothing on this Earth gives you more squeeee then watching a Timber / Dire Whale explode under a barrage of SRM spam.

Lets not forget the 'hero bonus' on 9 of them.

Also, soon you can now count 2 more mechs your 'package'.

You'll get the 'Pre-Sale Reward' of the Atlas AS7-S with hero bonus October 21st.
You'll get the 'Top Tier Reward' of the King Crab with hero bonus December 16th.

So...the Stormcrow is now a subpar 'mech?

I see a lot of QQ'ing about the "summoner being useless" on the forums yet when I actually play the game I see them all the time and they seem to be doing pretty well. Seems the key is to use the JJs and mobility for hit and run/brawling/popping up with PPCs and strong ballistics/SRMs. Not a playstyle I'm good at or have ever really tried seriously but I see these pilots (and go up against them) every night.

Last night I even saw one of the devs (Alex Iglesias) in one and he was good in his as well. A far cry from Paul in his Jenner.
