Just put 3 streak-2s on you'll be fine... just don't get in front of my Timberwolf D and try and streak off with me.

Ouch so is that 8 years from now? Maybe we'll have community warfare by then.

It amazes me, that people can't seem to take the time to look up http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page for the basics of the information like this, we all know that the DEV team is looking at a 1:1 time line between real world and game universe... As in, it's the 23rd of September 2014 here, so it is the 23rd of September 3049 in game...

We also know that they have talked about time jumps, as well as fudging the time on some equipment as needed, perfect example is the S omni-pods on some of the clan mechs...

The Inner Sphere has the worst scientists ever.

"Sir, we've finally figured out the Streak 2 weapon system!"
"Good job, can you reverse engineer it and make a Streak 6?"
"Hmmm, yes. It should only take about 23 years"

More like it only took them 8 years, they had to get Clan ones to take apart and figure out how to adapt the targeting system to the SRM-6...

Hopefully, since the IS SSRM6 isn't a Clan weapon, it wouldn't receive the same penalty as the Clan version.

But then again, the SSRM2 for both factions have the same cooldowns, so Paul might normalize all the things. I personally wonder SSRMs don't have the same cooldowns as regular SRMs (at least for the IS).

True, I guess. Though still terrible. It seems like if they had a homing system that worked for 2 missiles it would not take long to make it work for 6. Especially since it was based on a missile system that already existed.

Same deal goes for the LBXs. Found plans for a 10, ok great. Still couldn't figure out a 2, 5 or 20 on their own.

Well it has to due with different warheads and guidance systems would be my guess... I mean with Streaks (SSRM's) they should all hit when fired, not the shot-gun SRM vomit we have with normal units. If they had the same cool down, why would you take normal SRM's over Streaks?

I know I do, for the on-demand SRM vomit on my custom Timber Wolf D...

Well, regular SRMs require less tonnage and can be manually aimed (i.e. don't hit the leg when you want to hit the enemy's CT). Also, IS regular SRMs do slightly more damage per missile.

It should be significantly more damage...

PGI removed the SRM guidance, yet gave nothing in return. Dead-Fire warheads remove the guidance for extra payload, up to 3 damage.

I'd be happy with 2.5 damage and a speed buff, for isSRMs only.

Well normal LBX ammo is a canister, that opens and releases pellets at a set range, so I figure they had a hard time trying to get the timing fuse, as well as the pellet count and canister size to be right for each class of LBX AC, it got simpler when they were able to get their hands on clan versions to copy.

As for targeting software and guidance systems, just because it works with one type of launcher, doesn't mean just slapping them into a six-shot unit would work. It's not just the software in the launcher and missiles, you also have to work on the targeting array of the mech too. It'd be like taking the AIM-54 Phoenix missile system off of the F-14D and slapping the missile onto the F-4 Phantom and expecting it to work first go.

As for just copying clan tech, it's like getting a X box one to talk to a 1984 Desktop PC, they don't speak the same language, though they do have things in common.

It doesn't matter. I'm just saying that typically military science is waaay faster than that. Just look at what we've seen in our history. First powered flight: 1903, first supersonic flight: 1947, moon: 1969.

It's pretty ridiculous to think that the IS couldn't figure out how to "make a bigger shotgun" in 15 years. No, they had to find one first.

It's not real, don't equate it to real life, I know I know. I'm just saying.

Look at it another way, the budgets for the great houses had to balance social needs against military needs, some did it better than others, some gave bigger budgets for R&D. Generally speaking though, most of the funds went into making things that would blow up, or picking a fight on a very large front. that means that almost no money was going to R&D, on top of that we had COMSTAR actively working against people getting new tech... So in short is was one big cluster-**** on the Inner Sphere's part about the tech before the clans showed up. If it hadn't been for the Grey Death Legion and the Helm memory core, the Inner Sphere would have been well and truly ****ed when the clans showed up.
