Your thoughts on the subject?

Personally this is the one of two things that absolutely brings my blood to a boil. After a long hard fight I get tremendously annoyed at that one mech that cannot let the other team win a fair well fought victory.

He runs to the corner or into a crevis and shuts down so his K/D ratio won't be change.

What are your thoughts on the matter because for me nothing makes me angrier as I view it as very disrespectful to the other team that played a hard game and won fair and square. Also, having to wait around is really annoying.

Make a loss count as a death. Problem solved. Though I'm sure that will upset some.

So because the enemy capped our base, the whole team just...died? How does that make KDR anything other than a partial W/L?

Really, there is no simple way to fix this problem without hurting shutdowns in general. I say leave it as it is, and when it happens, tough.

It's reportable. Report it and move on.

This can be somewhat situation though...

While is incredibly rare, i have come across quite a few matches where we need the last surviving teammate to hide and shutdown to win by resource gathering.

I would see it as unfair to them, but i see the other side way more often.

Is it reportable though, I thought it was one of those grey areas.

I agree CN9, that a different situation that is strategic.

There needs to be a retreat mechanic. Give the winners partial credit for the retreating mech as if it was killed. Retreaters would only be entitled to match rewards up to the point of retreat.

This way, players can make a choice of running at the enemy as the last man, or quickly ending the match for all.

Maybe if they ever add the ability to eject, the last guy(s) alive could eject without a penalty if the odds are statisically overwhelming

(thinking of the ability to eject after you "die", you get a tiny window to eject before your mech collapses or explodes, for a cbill/xp bonus. Barring headshots of course)

Headshots should just make your screen go black, then fade to spectator ;)

Anything is reportable. Unless they sat there A.F.K. for the whole round, though, PGI isn't going to do anything about it. Your desire to kill the last enemy does not override their desire to not be killed by you- whatever the reason. Just go cap. Oh, playing skirmish... this was pointed out before the mode was introduced as a shortfall, you should be used to it by now.

* edit, retreat or surrender is a logical idea pointed out long ago that is long overdue.

So the guy who goes all in and carries most the weight gets penalized while the guy who sandbags, steals a couple kills and runs away gets to protect his kdr at the expense of the team?

No way.

You fight all in to the end. Don't matter that game mode.

A shutdown mech who is unable to return to the game should not stop it from ending. If this was the case the longest you would have to wait is 2 minutes.

according to the rules guys, As Ive sent an email asking this, if you could win a game by this, like in conquest it is completely viable gameplay. IF youre on say skirmish and he's just being an *******; report him as its bannable

I think the problem lies with everyone it upsets.

IF we could see each others stats, then yes, I might believe thats the reason they do it......

But, we are unable to see each others stats, so I can say I have a one gaillizinty to one kill to death ratio...
and even with my lame shop skills I could make it look like whatever I claim.

nope, they shut down for a million reasons who knows, who cares

And HOW is anyone to prove its not a game plan.
oh lord...shutting down, waiting to ambush and drop arty, then how is a screen shot going to prove it?
I guess i could take a screen shot of someone shutdown for heat and claim they were holding up the game?

I emailed in also out of curiosity and probably monday get a reply

Assuming the player in question participated in the battle, he is perfectly justified in trying to escape and evade. This is most true if he plans to try to get his enemy to scatter so he can pick them off one at a time, but if the odds are overwhelming and he hasn't been sitting at the sideline in a pristine mech the whole time, then I see no justification for rancor toward him if he manages to get away and hide.

This is even more true in assault or conquest.

Also, fair warning, if he has participated meaningfully in the combat, then it is treason to report his position to the enemy team in an effort to get him killed sooner. If, however, he has been cowering and not participating and then runs off and powers down, then you can probably report him for attempted griefing (and the moral high ground would say you still can't tell the enemy where he is).

I think it depends on the situation. If I have lost all my weapons and think my team might still win I will absolutely shut down and its funny to hear the fight around me and still survive a match. I will some times do this even if its hopeless just cause. However, if I still have weapons I will fight to the end.

In Conquest or Assault Mode I have no issues with the last man standing powering down and hiding. As the battle is already lost. The opposing team can still either win by capturing resource platforms (assuming if they are not too far behind in points) or capture the foe base.

TX for the info and outreach all.

Good post Levi, I am referring to someone who does participate and then when it is clear we lost runs into somewhere impossible to find and then shuts down with no intention of ever powering up again.
