Are Dire Wolves really that slow to turn that you can out maneuver one in a 64 kph hunch back?

64 KPH Hunchback, can't confirm. All my Hunchies have speed tweak. 71 KPH, however, I can confirm. Brawl one with, of all the Hunchbacks possible, the 4J. Couldn't help but get a kick out of the fact that it was the LRM Hunchie :D

Pretty sure that the Titanic is more maneuverable than Dire Wolves are. That said, the Titanic didn't have pulse lasers to carve apart incoming icebergs. The only way out of a fight for a Dire Wolf is to plow straight on through.

That's why they are 100 tons of death to anything with in their field of fire... they need the star to handle the things out side of that though...

I was eliting out one of my Whales, I tell ya I get more grief while playing them than I do playing Locusts. I'm serious! One game came down to me + a K2 against a couple of lights in Canyon. A dead guy screamed at me repeatedly over text, ranting about crappy timid D-Wolf pilots, just because I wouldn't go chase a Commando.

I had my a** plastered against a wall and took whatever glancing shots at the lights when the popped up. I've killed enough fatties in my Locust to know that I couldn't afford to go play ring around the rosie with them, especially since I was pretty much down to lasers with long beam duration.

Luckily, I did manage to soften them up and the K2 was a good shot. We won, I lived, and finished with 800 damage, 4 kills (substantially more than Mr. Whiner lol).

Spoiler

Earlier, me and a few teammates ambushed a Timberwolf. I got the last shot in.

But the show started when I was the last one left. They had an Orion, Stalker, and Dire Wolf left. The Stalker was beat up, but the Orion and Dire Wolf still had some armour and full weapons. I blew off the Stalker's RT, led the Orion away on a merry chase, then came back to our base, took out the Stalker's other torso, and kept drilling the Dire Wolf until it's CT was orange. I was zipping around him like the goddamn Road Runner.

The Orion came back, legged me as I went around a corner, but I blew out his autocannon and then cored him when he came around after me. He must have had ammo in there because his CT was red right after. Then I finished off the Dire Wolf as he came over and limped back over to the Stalker.

And I spelt Oddjob wrong lol.

Tier 5 mech my a**!

Took out two dire wolves in the same match today driving a 3A. And that was before the patch kicked in. I'm loving this little monster. I even got a solo kill later in the game :D

edit: And right after the patch I got another one, as well as another solo kill.

I've been trying out the Commandos, got them for CW as they'll fit in quite a number of 240 drop decks, not to mention possible drop decks that are more strict, that may occur. While I've been struggling with them, including the TDK (which every seems to love but I keep losing my arms too early), I can't deny that I've been missing out on a goldmine. Running around in the 1D and 2D, stripping the rear armour off of all the Clan mechs and IS Heavies and Assaults. I can't help but imagine what I could do if I wasn't awful :D

Piloting the Commando and the Locust is an artform. You'll get the hang of things eventually.

I do think I figured out the TDK earlier in a match, Caustic Valley, where Iost both my arms early on. Early on our team was down, and it was looking like a loss, and weaponless, I decided to go run around as fast as I could spotting them, since they only had like one ECM and they were a bit spread out. I lasted until the last minute of the match when we won, getting something around fifteen spot assists, not to mention causing general havoc. I even got some essentially killed by LRMs by circling them while spotted, and having them face the direction of the LRMs when they came down. Too busy trying to keep up with me instead of torso-twisting to spread damage, don't even think they realized that I was weaponless. I never thought the advice "Never stop moving" was quite so literal :)

For me, having started my IS carrier with Dragons, then Clan tech, then back to a Locust, it was my time with the Dragon, that I am drawing on for the Locust... they kind of drive some what alike...

Still i feel as if Wale time has passed, and Angry Kitten time is upon us now.

I ate an AC40 Jager, a Dire, and a Locust all in the same match using my Commando. I didn't score the kill on the former two, but I got most damage on each of them along with component destructions on them, and nailed the Locust because it kept going around in circles - just waited for it to come around a few times, SRM8 to its face a few times, then I legged it when it ran and destroyed its CT.

My favorite whale kills have started with parking my LPL speedboat SDR-5V behind a whale while he's shooting something more scary, so that he's mostly oblivious. Then using that single LPL, I burn through his back armor and internals one shot at a time. (The LPL and big engine was how I leveled it, which was way more fun than the JJ's.)

Takes awhile, but they seem to disregard the short-duration of the weapons-fire contact indicators in the HUD to pay attention to the more *ahem* dire threat in front of them.

By the time they notice, it's too late because they're looking at the "destroyed" screen. They've been slow-cooked, just like a frog in a frying pan. (Kids, don't try that at home, it's cruel to the frog. Dire Whales only.)

Edit: clarity
