Maybe im late to the party but i just found out that when renaming a mech you can have a second line of text with a description. Type your name, hit enter and type the description that you want. In the mechlab the name will be above the description.

Im making a post about this because there have been a lot of stealth improvement to the ui2.0 these last patch. Dunno why they arent mentioning them.

Doesn't really help though. I still have to click my mech to see the second line, and I only have 12 characters to play with, so there's only so much I have room for.

Always meant to ask/try, the names/descriptions you pick are only visible to you right?

Yes you can name your mech Beautiful Unicorn and no one will know =)
