New Text Colours

as much as i love the colour coded kill messages, i'm finding it a lot harder to figure out who wrote what in the chat bar since all the chat is now white. i think it'd be a lot easier of all the team chat was still blue so i can determine if a message is from my team or not, because if i'm fighting i need to know what the message is instantly so i can concentrate on fighting, not look to see if my team wrote it first, and THEN look at what he wrote, then continue fighting. i never care who wrote it, i just need to know if it applied to me and/or my team and now when i look up it's all the same colour chat so i don't know anymore

just my opinion - everything else is fantastic!

really? I just logged in and Global Chat from my team was dark blue, team chat was light blue (I didn't try lance chat) and enemy chat was Red...


I overall like the change, but I think it's a bit more confusing to know when people are talking in global chat vs team chat...

So two things I would like to see added to chat...
1) Maybe put a "G: ", "T: " or "L: " at the start of each line so it's very clear which chat the person is talking in...
2) the ability to scroll back to see messages that have scrolled by... sometimes you miss important info and there is no way to go back and see it if chatter is high.

the names, yes. the messages themselves are all white

i only play PUG and i never know any of my teammates so i never look at the name, i look at the message only and read it only if it's blue

Not sure I like the kind of brown/orange text for 'has killed' and 'has disconnected'. Why not white instead? If you wanted to avoid confusion with public chat, just begin all system message with *** or use
[ Rhialto has disconnected ] or something similar. My 2 cents.

+1 something needs a little more tweaking here. maybe all text color coded as the all white makes me think its global chat at times

it'd be neat if when someone was killed that text would flash so it gets your attention a little and makes it easier to keep an eye on the score. and/or the text is reversed so it looks more distinct from chat

This has been mentioned before: The chat font needs to have black outlines around letters to make them stand out against any background. No one solid color will be safe for all possible visual situations.

I find it to be rather distracting. Maybe because it's just to big and cartoony for my tastes.

If the chat was able to be resized I would make it smaller. That might make it better for me.

So much this. Countless times have I cursed about not being able to see some message that I missed because people got too chatty or a lot of people just got killed

Nice change, albeit the colours are a little bit too colorful for my taste. Looks a little cartoonish now .. maybe turn down saturation a bit, woud blend better into the HUD IMIHO.

While some tweaking may still be needed - I really like the black-border text idea - this is a huge step up from the way it was before, where names were not flagged by team and we were stuck reading dark blue text against blue skies or dark colored rocks.

How about the ability for each client to set their own chat colors / fonts? That would fix everything.

I like the new chat, except they still haven't fixed the bug where you lose whatever you've typed between screens.

(this is from the old version but I tested and it still does the same thing)

Was this ever really needed? No sensitive information should be going out from teammates via All Chat, so it's not like you could mistake things the enemy is saying for directions from your teammates. This is like a side-ways step--not either up nor down, neither an improvement nor a loss, because it's a totally unnecessary change that really doesn't make much of a difference one way or the other.

Other than making it hard to tell if something is going out over All chat or Team chat. Which likewise, makes it difficult to respond appropriately quickly, and discern if it's something potentially useful you need to read from your teammates, or the usual "Blue team rules, red team drools" stuff coming from all-chat.

I like the color text, however I really don't like that both the team chat and all chat are blue. It takes a moment for me to recognize if the text is an all-chat communication or team-chat. I really want to see a separate color for one of the two, maybe yellow for friendly all-chat? or more of a cyan for team-chat to make it more distinguishable.
